way to save $

way to save $

FH are most likely going to order our album professionaly through our photographer but to save momey we are not going to order parent albums

I was talking to my cousin (who had a destination wedding) and she is making hers through shutterfly or mypublisherpro.com. i saw what she did so far on shutterfly and it looks really professional and she said she has seen them in person and they look great.

The photographers we have met with all pretty much said the parent albums would be abouy 18 pictures, if I make them up i can include a lot more!! Plus my cousin said they offer discounts all the time on them at shutterfly and mypublisherpro.com. she said me a 50% off coupon (but not sure how long it is good for)

we figure this will save us anywhere from 700-1000 bucks! Just thought i would share.

We're doing the same thing with our parent albums.. making them online. The only tricky part is that we don't get our proofs on a hi-res disk, so we'll have to do some scanning!

Great tip though!

I've made one before as a present for my mom using kodakgallery.com. The only difference is the paper quality...with most professional albums, you get a thicker paper...but if you don't really care about that, the online ones are a great deal!

oh man!! you are going to have to scan them!

Well scanning them will be a pain in the butt but the album will still look great!

i know i was going to tell them if they want one to please tell us because that is quite exspensive so I would ask them for the extra money

That is a great idea! I really think i want to do that, but how did you present this idea to the parents. im not sure how FMIL will feel.

Wow, I never thought of this! This is a wonderful idea! Do you think doing your own parent albums would really take a $1000 off the price? That's a lot..if it's true, i'm definitely all for it

well at duet we looked at the package that excluded parent albums and the price difference was 700 and the packages seemed the same otherwise but of couse we didnt start negotiating anything yet so who knows. but i wasnt impressed with any parent albums i have seen they are all very simple and they only have about 18 pictures in them. Id rather give our parents an album with a lot more pictures. even if i just made copies at cvs and made them a reg book with prof shots.

I was thinking the same thing, I don't like that there aren't that many pics in the parents albums..

Fh and I are doing the same thing for the Parent Albums. Both sets of parents dont care for the PAs but i figured it doesnt cost much to make them online.. so why waste all that money.

That is a good way to save some $$.

I'd be doing the same thing but our photographer is throwing them in as a no charge item (since we only need one parent album- if my aunt wants something I'd do this though).

That is a awesome way to save some money.

Re: way to save $

i love this idea!!! i def want to do this for my parents and FMIL

but 2 things are kinda stopping me:
1. my mom already said that was weird and she wanted a professionally made album- geez momzilla hahabut i explained it to her, but FMIL is going to be hard to explain it to

2. do you have to buy the rights to your pictures then in order to make copies into an album??

cause FBIL and his wife actually had to buy the rights to their pics so they could copy their photos and make an album for their grandmother

Re: way to save $

the photographers i met with said that the pictures are all ours.

they give them to you on a CD to make copies.

some photographers have your pics online

you 'll have to find out from your photographer

Oh thats good to know!! thank you. who did you book with??

yeah FBIL's wife was crazy and got like an 8,000 photo/video I mean their pics are wonderful but not any different then some of these wonderful photo's that all us LIW talk about...and then they paid another couple hundred on top of that for their rights to the pics

We are doing the same thing for our parent albums -- kodakgallery.com now has these Martha Stewart albums and they have great layouts

another really AWESOME site that is new is called: Blurb.com

Just like mypublisher.....but they have amazing prices. you DL the software and make your own book.

i just made one for my MOH....it has 58 pages, 122 pics, and it's going to be in hard cover, 13x11', with a dust jacket.....and it only cost $70!!!!

Preview of the book I made
If you click the link above, you can see a preview of my book, to give you an idea of what the work looks like!
