I am freaking out we have all of our responses in and we are over 50 people under our minimum! I feel like crying. I think this awful economy is to blame but I just don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

HUG we are under min also by 15 people. not much to do there. however the RH was very understanding. they agreed to throw us extras in return for those missing people. for example cappichinos, fine cheeses at CH, more desert choices. try to talk to them good luck

=( that sux.
But keep in mind, RSVPs slowly trickle in at the last minute.
Also, do you have another list you can work off of? Co-workers, old friends from school etc?

Re: Way Under Minimum
we were under by over 50 ppl too! We are very upset at some of them (i.e. FH's own uncle and godmother). seriously, w t f??
Anyway, we sent out some last minute invites and even verbal invites and we got about 15 more ppl and have a few to hear back from, so we are hoping to make at least 125 (150 min)
I'd start verbally inviting some B-listers... we just said 'we were worried about being at capacity with our large families but some declined so now we are thrilled we are able to invite more friends!'
everyone has only been honored and thrilled to come so far.

Actually all of our RSVP's are in! I do have some old friends from school but with the wedding so close do you think it would be rude to ask them?

TOTALLY not! I think people get it. .I invited so many folks last minute and they were all thrilled (including one LITERALLY the night before when we ran into him at a bar after our RD. . and he was so happy to come.. .(a new friend we met through one of our BP) so I just say go for it. . . just pose it the way someone else suggested that you are so excited to be able to open it up. . you were stressed about numbers, etc. ..

I dont think so. Im sure they will understand that you have family to ask 1st. We had invited 189 ppl - & a lot of our family from down south said no b/c of the cost to travel, stay in hotel as well as giving a wedding gift. So we both invited neighbors & friends from work w/ invitations & also verbally - even a few of those couldnt make it. We only had to guarantee 110 & we got very lucky and had 130 attend. So Im sure your friends will understand if they really are your friends...best of luck!

I'll come! Would love to go to a JT wedding. Seriously though, you need to start asking some people! They will understand. I would also call JT and talk to them about it. Did you include your vendors? We are at 191 and had to guarantee 200 so we are ending up having to pay full price for the JT vendors because we didn't meet our minimum. So annoying but with our vendors we are at 201 so we are getting 1 JT vendor of the 8 for free. Ugh!

Re: Way Under Minimum
I am sorry to hear about that :( ... if you want to ask more people, I would do it asap girl... like I think its the way you ask people and as well as the person...One of my friends who was getting married, didnt invite one of our guy friend, and 2 days before calls me and says '5 people just cancelled, do you think so and so would wanna come?' I was like why dont you call and ask him? She calls and says ' Hey 5 people couldnt come, I was wondering if you wanted to...' I know thats a really stupid way, but he declined, only because of the way she asked. I hope everything works out for you

Re: Way Under Minimum
All the advice on here is good. I invited people by mouth last minute and they were thrilled, not insulted.
Also I talked to my RH and they worked with us a little. Its been happening a lot this year so they were kind of expecting it.

Re: Way Under Minimum
I am so sorry. Hopefully you can invite more people. Our respond deadline is Oct 7 and we have gotten a lot of No's from people we thought were coming. I hope we meet our minimum too.
Our RH said they would not give us anything extra though but hopefully yours will

Re: Way Under Minimum
The same thing happened at my wedding. We were expecting 100 guests and only 75 guests showed up. Luckily, two tables failed to deliver. And we ended up with only one empty table with no show. Unfortunately, our caterer did not reimburse us for the amount of food or drinks since they required a two weeks notice. Definitely make an appointment to discuss it with your RH/caterer. Let them know that the economy had severely impact your guests turnout nor were you expecting to be under the minimum. See if you can make some kind of arrangements with them. Although, reimbursement is not likely, they might be able to cut down or reduce the overall cost.
