ways to incorporate irish touches into wedding

Hey~

I want to try and incorporate irish things into the weddings, but am looking for some 'different' ideas. Anyone doing this?
Thanks!

I believe a wedding I went to recently had an Irish blessing as part of the ceremony. I think it was the may the road rise to meet you etc. one.

eta the blessing, I just found it with Google:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

I saw a magazing that has these pewter rings that had an Irish blessing engraved inside-you tie them to your rings when the RB carries them ( or whoever is carrying them)...

I fell in love...

FM me if you want me to get you info on them....

We had clauddagh invites and had them carved into fruit for our CH

The groomsmen presents were Beer Glasses with an Irish Poen carved into them...

I also had the band play some of DH's fav Irish music....

If you are getting married at a church or having someone play music there is an irish wedding song that is really nice.

We had a bagpiper at the church standing outside for beginning and end.

We have irish wedding bands.

Put out an irish sweatshirt that was really a hit (forgot the saying now)

Bagpipers at the reception for 20 minutes

Irish blessing in our programs

Also it is good luck if a man is the first to wish you congratulations on your wedding day. This is why I ran after my father before a woman could congratulate me.

We also had Waterford toasting flutes.

Someday I'll hook up my scanner and add the proofs

We're having a few members of a pipe band play at the Church and the reception. My FH and his GM's will be wearing kilts and his ring is from a jeweler in Dublin. We're having an Irish band for the reception and I'm sure we'll have some set-dances.

We're very supersititious, so I'll put a penny in my shoe and have a horseshoe on my garter for good luck. We also have Waterford Toasting flutes, unity candles, cake cutter and pen for signing the guest book.
