We are down to 2!!(prices and feelings inside)

We are down to 2!!(prices and feelings inside)

ITs almost over ladies and men( my abundance of posts over this issue) but its now between:

Stewart Manor CC -price Sat night (march for both) $59 , one wedding, large reception room, nice choices, smaller coktail hr and too far from church I want.

WaterMill: $69 for Friday night( march) Is Friday vs Saturday. A little more money and guarentee is 125 which is just what we will have. Feel more like a 'fancy wedding'. VERY close to church.

ME and FI are agonzing over this decision, there is one friday in March left and Watermill wants a decision by tommorow....any last words for me? ( before I go insane?)

Thanks you all more then you'll ever know!!!!!

We loved the Watermill.. We did a Friday night wedding and it was perfect. I have never been to Stewart Manor CC.

I am biased but it sounds like you want the Watermill

I thought I read in your other post that you were expecting 100-125? I'm only asking becasue if your minimum is 125, you should probably invite closer to 140-150 or you might end up paying for empty seats.
Honestly, I'd go for Stewart Manor, because it is a Saturday night, and it's $10 cheaper, lower minimum (not to jinx you, but God forbid there is bad weather, you really don't want a higher min.) I also like that it's one wedding at a time.

dee-dee...the church is in Ronkonkoma on the lake...St. Mary's. It's where I went for ten plus years growing up there.

And yes our numbers were lower to 100- Watermill said they would allow a 125 so we would have to invite at least 160 to get that.

I'm biased - But I say Watermill

Re: We are down to 2!!(prices and feelings inside)

the only reason why I am asking about the church is that Watermill gave us an 8:00 cocktail start. Our chuch originally would only let us do a 4:00 ceremony. We ended up rectifying it and got a 5:00 ceremony. Let me tell you that the 8:00 cocktail hour was the best thing.
The Watermill throws a great wedding!

I think you sound like you want the watermill but are worried about Friday wedding? Dont' be, it's more common and I think if you want to sacrifice the extra $10 pp for the 'fancier' wedding, go for it

We went to a few places and actually had Jericho Terrace booked thinking we would be able to make the minimum. Jericho Terrace had lowered the minimum b/c we went with a bigger menu. After going over a list with my father he cut out like 40 people and I wasn't about to pay for people that werent coming so we went looking again and stumbled upon Watermill. The minute we walked in we knew this was the place. They may do 2 weddings at a time but its on seperate floors and there is really no reason why anyone from the upstairs would go down and vice versa. I think it is a formal place without it being over the top and stuffy and they were great to work with. I wished we had looked there first b/c now I am out my deposit plus some payments. Jericho Terrace doesnt want to give me the payments I made even though they booked that date and time with a higher minimum and the same menu. Apparently they had to 'discount' the day b/c we canceled it mean while we canceled it a year and 5 months before the wedding, but that is a different story and I am getting off the topic. Anyway I dont think you can go wrong with the Watermill!

Considerations....
Know your crowd.......
I would have done a friday night wedding or a sunday to save money but alot of my guests were not in agreement with the idea..some said that they would not be able to get home from the city intime to be ready.....etc, etc Sunday they said.....they could not drink cause work was the next day......i say ask a few of your guests if a Friday wedding would be a problem for them and based on that you may have your answer......if not go with the place you feel in your gut is the best for you.

I would also see if the Watermill will go 10 bucks. If it is the only day they have avaible in March they might do it just so they have another wedding. They might loose money with you but I am sure they will make it up with another couple.

watermill is beautiful, i love the wedding i went to there last summer.
however i still prefer smcc, i love the one wedding at a time, and the more cosy atmosphere, also it helps having a smaller minimum

I just can't see doing a Friday or Sunday night wedding - it really does inconvenience your guests (although a Sunday brunch could be OK). I'd go with Stewart b/c it's in your price range for a Saturday.
