we are poor.

today FH went to buy some stuff at the hardware store for the apartment

we know the owners and while he was there their shipment came in and he took off 500 things from the truck and put them away for the guy

so the guy didnt charge him for whatever he bought!!!!!

AND FH is going back Friday to do some more work for them so we can get more stuff

so he is working for apartment supplies - i think this is hysterical. . . .i feel like i should be mopping floors for food or something

anything for extra money!!!!!

This morning I was laying in bed, looking at the dirty ceiling fan and thinking, are we going to leave this here when we move, or take it down (we bought it when we moved in to our apt) and replace it with the lamp that was there? It was only a $25 fan ... but still ... why give it to the landlord?? What about all the other lights we bought? Even though most were only $20 or less, that's like $100 in lights that we won't have to buy when we move. (They are all pretty standard so they will match any decor.)

How's THAT for saving money????

my FH tries to make deals with some of our vendors. Like a barter contract or something lol The best is when we were at the church booking it, there was something going on in the church itself so we had to go out a back entrance. We walked through this dark hallway, I guess it was used for storage too b/c there was crap everywhere, could barely walk. SO the priest made a comment about getting someone to put new shelves in..so Jimmy was like I'LL DO IT!!! the priest was like really?? So FH was like yes i can easily do it. So the priest said he'd take that off the fee we have to pay them for the ceremony lololol
Then FH (when we were looking for DJs instead of a band) made a deal with a DJ company to put a new bathroom in his house in exchange for them to do our wedding haha
And FH also takes alot of scrap metal and copper from the different homes he works on and piles it in the garage. So everytime he comes home with more he goes 'I just brought home another payment to the NRC' lol

Isn't it great when you get money for basically doing NOTHING, like scrap metal???? I should tell FH to look for more .... even though we have no garage and no place to put it ....

hey its our first apartment and i basically put out an open call to all our family and friends - if they were getting rid of it we were taking it - even if it TOTALLY doesnt match. . .

I know its ridiculous. FHs uncle buys and flip homes so he has FH do alot of the demolition and repairs. So he pays him to remove the copper and tells him to keep it and cash it in..we had about 3-4 months of NRC payments just from copper alone lol

I think that's similar to a barter... trading services for services. Way to be thrifty!!!

My FH found someone rumaging through out dumpster for scrap metal and he yelled at him and said thats my trash leave it alone. We are getting our electrical put in right now and the amount of copper wire they are using is nuts plus all the scraps. he said u can cash it in for $$$

oh yeah i forgot - most of our tiles, linoleum, carpeting - we picked all the discontinued or sample stuff bc its such a small area, we can do that

too funny

i was even telling steve today about this cardboard furniture we bought from target - so cute but its that compressed cardboard stuff. . . Anthony leaned on it to stand up and his hand went THROUGH it so we just put something on top of it to hide it

we can have this stuff now before we have kids destroying everything!
