We Booked Our Place!! =)
We booked at Stewart Manor Country Club. I loved the place to start with. Then when I met & talked with Ed Norwick I was even more excited. He was so helpfull he even said that he will help with the DJ search. (We want a DJ with a large Irish selection) He told me he'd call around & see what he can find. He gave me his card w/ his cell number just in case I have anymore things that I need to know or if I need to get his opinion on people I want to book. He was just the best I can't even say enough! YEAH!! =)

Congratulations - another Stewart Manor Bride here...
The best of luck to you...what is your date?? The place is great - My FH and I fell in love with the room the second we walked in it! Was it the same for you? I am also getting married at Stewart Manor. I would like to meet Ed, being that who we met with is the same as Christinec68, and is no longer there. And Christine, I found out from another SMCC bride that Frank did not retire, he went somewhere else...I think there's a story there, but I don't know what it is...What did you talk to Ed about? Did you ever find out about the centerpiece upgrade?

My best friend got married there in October. And I just fell in love with the place. (this was even before we were engaged) But when I walked around there again last night I got goosebumps. I'm so excited!! We're getting married on May 23, 2003. I don't know about the centerpiece upgrade. But from what Ed said they will do anything to make you happy. We were thinking of using something else @ the carving station that wasn't on the menu. He was quick to know the price & said if we wanted it we can have it. Can I just say again I love this place!! =)

SMCC - a little long
I know something weird happened with Frank, I don`t know what it is and I don`t care really as long as all of our weddings are attended to the way they are supposed to. I did ask about the turnover and that`s when they told me that Frank retired and Bruce left due to personal reasons (I don`t believe the Frank part and but I know about the Bruce part from a mutual acquaitence). We went to show the place to my mother and she loved it - she said the same thing as Berlykim, it`s quiant, intimate, the cocktail hour rooms have a nice flow, just lovely all in all! We were told to contact the florist directly to change the flowers and that they would bill us the difference. When I called the florist, granted it was right before valentine`s day, they explained for 5 minutes that they are too busy to make appointments. After explaining I don`t want to come in before 2/14, I just want to make an appointment, she still went on about how busy they are. I decided to forget it. We went with another florist all together and will get a credit from SMCC. I do want to mention that we got there right before a wedding for that evening and the place looked fabulous!! They changed the hot buffet station table to a large round one instead of the long squiggily tables they used to have and it looks SOOO much better - the room is really openned up now! There were floating flowers and candles on the cocktail tables, there were pretty arrangements on the other tables in the room where the cold display is, the centerpieces look very pretty, much nicer then the sample in the office and there were flowers on the mantle. These were all the house flowers and it looked really nice!! One other thing...a close family friend attended a family wedding there a few years ago. She and her daughter in law said that SMCC had the best cocktail hour of any receoption they have ever been to. Good luck to all!

SMCC - a little long
Thanks for all the information, It makes me feel good about my choice, I dont know anyone who has been to a wedding there, which was good and bad. Good because it will be a new place that not alot have been too (that will be at my wedding) and bad cause I had no one to tell me what they thought of the place. So all this Good Info is really comforting THANKS !!! Also Christine, if you dont mind me asking how much credit is SMCC giving you for the flowers? I havent even thought about the flowers and stuff yet, I have alittle over a year and going on a much needed vacation on Sunday. So when I get back I will be total Wedding Mode. Enjoy planning all Kimberly PS when I was looking at smcc, the time I was talking to Don, I told him I went to Larksfield Manor and he asked me if I talked to a Frank, he said he trained him, I wonder if thats the Frank you guys were talking about, Who knows, just figured I would share with you.

Berlykim - SMCC - a little long
I'd be a little curious about whether or not it's the same Frank. I also forgot to mention that the wedding they were setting up for was for 180 people and the room was filled nicely without being crowded. Our party is smaller then that so our guests will be able to do cartwheels:) We are getting a credit of $12 per table for the flowers. I felt the same way, I wanted something different but as a result I didn't have too many recomendations when we booked it. Since then, I know at least 5 people that have been there and I have only heard good things! Have a great vacation!

SMCC - a little long
I can't wait to have mine at Stewart Manor too - I know it's going to be wonderful!! Christine...when you say you saw the flowers on the mantle, do you mean in the reception room or in the cocktail room? Do you know if they provide the flowers in the cocktail room? Also - what flowers were in the centerpieces that you saw? Was it still carnations and daisies? If not, may I ask if you remember what they were? If they weren't the above mentioned, perhaps they upgraded. Thanks soooo much, as always...And thanks for filling us in regarding the cocktail hour table set up - sounds great!! As for Frank, my friend who is also marrying at Stewart Manor told me that Frank went to 'something' manor - so I bet that is the person Kimberly!! Small world I guess... Let's all keep in touch and bounce ideas off each other. Take care!

marnles - SMCC - a little long
There were flowers on both mantles and on all the cocktail tables. It looked like the flowers that are always there when I go there for appointments so I have to assume they are provided by the house florist. I don't remember the centerpieces exactly, they still had carnations, but I'm not sure about daisys. They didn't look upgraded, but I think a little bigger and maybe just fresher then the sample. This bride and groom was using the burgundy tablecloths and the centerpieces coordinated, so maybe that made them look different then the pink carnantion sample in the office. Lots of luck. If I get other info, I'll definitely post!

A flower thing I heard, just to let you know...
The flowers on the mantle in the reception room are silk...I'm wondering if the mantle arrangement in the cocktail room is silk as well...hmmm...but honestly, if they look nice, then it doesn't matter. I think I'm going to call the florist they use to find out about minor upgrades. I don't mind the carnations, but I'm having a winter theme (so I'm going with white flowers) and I wanted to know what they might charge to put pine needles in as filler rather than fern and whatever else they use...if that's even possible...I would even love some pinecones in there. Any ideas? And Christine, what are you thinking of upgrading to?

A flower thing I heard, just to let you know...
My friend had her wedding there in Nov. & she added things to the table like baby pumpkins & a large pumpkins that they put the flowers in. So you can do what ever you want if you just want to make a few additions.

I think the flowers they have on both mantles are pretty - since they are always there and always fresh, I assumed they were silk. I am sure there florist would be able to add pine needles to the arrangements. I don't know if you would go through SMCC or the florist. The house florist if Floral Park Florist if you want to call them. I am not sure what we will end up with centerpiece wise - the florist we hired is going to create something using pillar candles and I don't know what that will go with the colors of our wedding (wine/cranberry color).
