We finally put our deposit down on the hall... but what comes next? Is there a general order of vendors to look at?
I have an appt with a DJ, and then I was figuring to tackle the photographer... Is it too early to start to look at florists? Should I have my dresses picked out before I even consider a florist? Or can I start going to appts now?

Congratulations on booking!
I believe you should start booking your DJ, photo, and video. Then the flowers can wait until right before. (At least I think)
I don't think you need your dress before you book flowers.
And of course, I'm not sure if you picked your officiant or church? Should do that first if you didn't yet.

You don't need to pick your dresses before picking flowers, but you should have a color in mind, since that will tell you what types of flowers you would use. As for order: book officiants/church/synangogue book music photo/video Those are the big ones. Next, at your convenience start looking for dresses for both you and your BM. Some people find their dresses very quickly, others need much more time. Once you've got that you can start worrying about the florists. Next start looking for invitations. And whenever you have time, you can start looking for favors.

I would work on photo, dj, florist- honestly I would go for anything and everything you can - vendors book so quickly!

I agree!! I would work on music and photog first-- flowers can do multiple weddings a day-- music and photog cannot.
And I would also start looking and reasearching all wedding stuff.. you'll get inspired and need to have some ideas for some of your vendor meetings.

Congrats on getting your hall!! That's awesome and such a huge part of the wedding process to have done. I would start looking at photographers first, then video (often you can find photo & video packages together so, you know, 2 birds 1 stone ), music, and flowers. As for your dress, I would hold off on that for awhile. You have over a year and you don't want to pick a dress too early that you end up regretting it. As BriBri said, you don't need to have your dress to pick a florist. Before your final meeting, you'll just bring a swatch of your dress and your BM's dresses with you to the florist. Hope this helps!

I did it like this:
I booked the hall , then booked the dj, now i am going to book the photographer.
Florist i went to see one and I am waiting for a quote.
Florist you can save until next year. The Dj, hall and photo are most important.
Oh yeah start looking for your dress.

Congrats! Now I would make sure you get your church/synogogue, band/dj, photo & video. Then you can relax for a little while! That will get all the big stuff out of the way!

Yes it is a good idea to look at DJ and photographer next. You can wait a little on the florist. You can book one now without the dresses but it may help to have them.

Where do invintations, booking transportation and honeymoon fall into that list, or are those one of those not as important, I have a lot of time for things....
