My mother, in all of her generosity, offered us her AAdvantage miles (she has 260,000) to use for our honeymoon flights when we first got engaged. After letting her know that a flight to Hawaii would not eat them all up at once, we decided on Hawaii as our destination. FH is excited. I have mixed feelings.
Pros: -Its gorgeous -It is AMERICAN and we wont get sick from the food like we did in Mexico (FH got a parasite) -I will finally get to see Pearl Harbor which I always wanted to do since Dad was a WW2 Veteran and thats where it all began
Cons: -I hate long plane rides and I will go buck nutty on the plane (ok it is only one 'con' but its a big one if you know me)
My mom only wants us to stay at the place where they filmed the Elvis movie 'Blue Hawaii' because she stayed there with Dad when they went on their 25th anniversary 24 years ago! She's too cute. I think she also wants us to see Don Ho and sing 'Tiny Bubbles'
We have about 10 days to work with in terms of this vacation, leaving mid-week, so if anyone has any suggestions as to how they plotted out their Hawaiian vacation, fill us in!
I should be overly excited but I am more concerned about getting the wedding off without a hitch than going away afterwards.

Yes he is sort of. He wants to do it but we have a lot on our plates right now between moving and wedding planning. What he needs to do is take one evening and go to the travel agent and get the ball rolling. We never had a super long engagement so we didn't have a lot of time to think about it. The only issue we have to deal with is scheduling flights using Mom's miles. He has no choice. He just HAS to do it!

My brother went to Hawaii on his HM and they split it up just how your FH suggested, but they stopped in San Francisco for a few days on their way to Hawaii instead of the way back. They said the break up in flights wasn't bad, but the return trip was looonnngg. I think they left Hawaii at around 7am and didn't return to NY till around midnight. They were jet lagged for a few days.
So you might want to leave a few days off after the HM to recuperate!!!
I wanted Hawaii, but FH doesn't want a long flight, so we're settling on the Caribbean or Mexico.
