We decided on Hawaii...

... for our Honeymoon.

My mother, in all of her generosity, offered us her AAdvantage miles (she has 260,000) to use for our honeymoon flights when we first got engaged. After letting her know that a flight to Hawaii would not eat them all up at once, we decided on Hawaii as our destination. FH is excited. I have mixed feelings.

Pros:
-Its gorgeous
-It is AMERICAN and we wont get sick from the food like we did in Mexico (FH got a parasite)
-I will finally get to see Pearl Harbor which I always wanted to do since Dad was a WW2 Veteran and thats where it all began

Cons:
-I hate long plane rides and I will go buck nutty on the plane
(ok it is only one 'con' but its a big one if you know me)

My mom only wants us to stay at the place where they filmed the Elvis movie 'Blue Hawaii' because she stayed there with Dad when they went on their 25th anniversary 24 years ago! She's too cute. I think she also wants us to see Don Ho and sing 'Tiny Bubbles'

We have about 10 days to work with in terms of this vacation, leaving mid-week, so if anyone has any suggestions as to how they plotted out their Hawaiian vacation, fill us in!

I should be overly excited but I am more concerned about getting the wedding off without a hitch than going away afterwards.

I am so happy you decided on Hawaii! You'll have a layover so it won't be so bad.

He wanted to see San Francisco on our way back. It is my favorite West Coast City but NOT in February. He tries so hard.

Oooh great choice! We are also taking a VERY long flight (about 13 hrs non-stop) and I absolutely hate flying, but how else are you going to see the world?!

We are taking some travel games, cards, the plane has movies and we are def taking tylenol PM or some type of sleeping pill to kill some time! It will be worth it!!!!!!

My friend just came back from Hawaii for her HM. She said it was absolutely Gorgeous!
They LOVED it!!!

I can't take plan rides forget about long ones.
I am sticking to a closer destination.

I am sure you will have a Great Time!

I don't think you can go wrong in Hawaii, good decision!

As for plotting out your honeymoon, we looked online at what each island had to offer and mapped everything out from there.....we like to do a lot of sightseeing as well as relax when we go away. THe Big Island was a must for FH (because of the volcanoes and observatory, he's a big dork) and Maui was a must for me. We extended our trip by a few days so we could see Kauai and Oahu for Pearl Harbor.

If you just want to relax, I'd stick with Maui, Kauai, and see Oahu for Pearl Harbor, if you're more interested in 'seeing' things, definitelt check out the Big Island.

Once we found out where we wanted to stay, we got prices online and brought them to a travel agent, and he came in around the same price.

I have been to hawaii twice you will love it. we are doing europe cause we been their alreday.. you will love it!!

FYI......
My cousin is in Hawaii as we speak for her Honeymoon and coming back tomorrow. They were there for 2 weeks, visited 3 islands and rented a very nice car on each island....and I found out the other night that they spent $13,000 on their HM......WOW, can you believe it???? I can't, tha tmoney could definitely be put to better use in my eyes.

Trust me I know, it just sounds ridiculous and a bit scary. I think my FH was going to pass out when he heard that. We have no intention of spending that kind of money, besides the fact that we could not afford to.
