We found the perfect home in Great Neck....we put a bid in and are now waiting. We were told there is a bid in for slightly higher than what we put in but we are willing to negotiate.
I really wish we put a higher bid in though....I feel like we are now at a disadvantage. DH thinks we will look too anxious if we call back and raise it...but i just want this place....i dont care. I am sitting like a nervous wreck....should i call or just wait till the morning?

Good luck! I hope it works out. We found that we lost a few houses because we didn't put in a high enough bid. Even when we bid asking price. For our house we bid higher then asking and said we would put down 10% on contract (according to the RE she said that was really good - shows that you are serious).

DH is calling this morning to find out the status and see if we need to offer more at this point. We have a few things in our favor...we said we would put 20% down, we are pre-approved for the mortgage and we can move fast. We were told these things are very attractive to sellers.
I just want to know already so I can either get excited or move on and continue the search.

We just heard that there are 3 bids...we are the middle bid but the couple is being advised to go with us due to our financial situation. So this is a good thing.
They will let us know this evening if we are outbid, bid accepted or if they want to negotiate.
Ohhh the waiting game is SOOO hard!

We got the counter offer....we are deciding to either accept the counter or try more negotiating....there is another couple also bidding so we are real nervous we can lose it.
I hope this doesnt end up to be a bidding war!

If you really want the house you should just accept the counter, if the counter is still within how much you were willing to pay for the house. If it's more, then try seeing if they will come down.

I agree too. If the counter offer is within what you're willing to pay I would accept it expecially since there is another bidder.

I am so mad...DH wants to treat this like a deal at his company and wants to give another bid lower than the counter offer and see what they come back with. I want to offer what they countered or even were asking and hope we can close the deal. I dont want to lose the apt. to the other couple at least not over a couple thousand dollars.
