I cant believe we did it. We just bought a puppy. He is a brindle and white bull terrier. He looks like the spuds mackenzie dog. Once we take pics I will post.
I was so nervous, because we have a cat. Blackie growled and hissed for awhile, and everytime the dog goes near th ecat, hew swats at him I hope they get used to one another...my poor kitty

thanks...it is so hard, now becaue Blackie is so scared now, and it is killing me
How long till they get used to one another?? Blackie is a very spoiled cat, and he LOVES his attention,a nd Im giving him so much of it, but is too scared to come out of our room. He eats so fast and runs back in.

they'll adjust...i swear. just think how an older sibling felt when you were brought home...they got used to you, right???

Tiger is adorable!! Blackie will adjust ... just keep giving him the attention you always have ... it'll work out!

Diane...this is going to take a while...my parents said it took about a month for our cat and dog o get used to each other - but the cat was the new one...
the idea is to make sure the puppy is very tired when it interacts with the cat
but when John and I got our dog it took a LONG time for the cat to adjust...maybe a year...she would swat the poor guy all the time...he would have scratches on his nose...he's still a bit scared of her...but also likes to play with her...but now the cat woulod love to sleep with the dog...but the dog remembers all the previous abuse...

Congrats he is cute!!! They will adjust. When my Mom brought home her dog (she already had 2 cats) the vet told her to introduce them slowly, keep them seperated as much as possible and them together 5 minutes more a day. But they will get used to it, now all 3 are brothers!

I feel your pain, our two cats still do not get along with our husky pup and it's been 6 months!! One of the cats is making progress, the other one isn't. I feel bad, too but I think eventually when she's out of her puppy stage they'll get along.

Diane what a cute doggie, I had a dream that Roger bought us a dog for me for in the house, I was like, it had to be a dream b/c he hates dogs in the house. I hope your cat and your dog become wonderful house mates. What prompted you guys to get a dog??

Shamma...we had our eye on him about 3 weeks ago, and were debating. We went back 2 days ago, and got him. It was s pur of the monet thing. Im really having second thoughts. I never had a dog, and so sad that Blackie is so terriifed. I know it will take time, but for some reason I dont know if they will be playmates. I hate that he wont come out of the room, and romp the house like he owns it He gets so excited when I come home and starts crying when I leave the room Tammy...I can email a pic to you. I have it saved on my email.
