We had our precana session this weekend and i wanted share!!
First of all i just want to say it was nothing what i expected, my fh and i were pleasantly surpised with the whole experience.
The weekend started off with my fh and i getting to meet another 07 LIW bride-Jenn (aka Jennd311) and her Fh mark. that was a very nice experience. Then the host couple introduced themselves and they were soo cute!! Then we had a guest speaker, Dr Ray Shelton. If i remember correctly he is a marriage counselor. He taught us a lot about communication. then we had lunch and we had another speaker talk to us, again it was very enjoyable. then our host couple wrapped up the day with us.
Then sunday we had someone come in and talk to us about children and the different aspects of it, again very enjoyable. The host couple also went over the NFP method. which is natural family planning. they didn't make u feel like u were a sinner for being on BC or wanting to wait to have children, which i heard happens at other precana classses. Then the host couple went over the ceremony/mass set up and the readings and other ceremony details. Then we had mass. the mass was soo nice!! at the end of the mass the host couple had us all stand up and face our finaces and do the hands ceremony. I didn't expect to, but i started tearing. I couldn't look my fh in the eyes w/o having my eyes swell up with tears. i'm such a sap.
below is a copy of the hands ceremony if anyone needs a good cry.
all in all both fh and i learned some things about each other and it also confirmed our love for each other. i highly recommend the dioceasan precana program to everyone.
Hands Ceremony
Host couple speaks
Ladies, please face ur fiance, and hold his hands, palms up, so you may see the gift that they are to you. (we all faced our fiances, his upturned hands resting in hers.)
Then the host couple spoke:
These are the hands, young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as he promises to love you all the days of his life. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief rack your mind. These are the hands that will comfort & encourage your children to be the best they can be. These are the hands that will work long hours for you and your new family, so that you may enjoy life’s successes. These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes: eyes that are filled completely with his overwhelming love and desire for you.

gentelmen please hold ur fiance's hands, palms up, where you may see the gift that they are to you. (again we faced each other the girls hands on top of the boys hands)
These are the hands that are smooth, young, and carefree, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as she pledges her love and commitment to you all the days of her life.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. They are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick or console you when you are grieving. These are the hands that will hold your children in tender love, soothing them through illness and hurts, supporting and encouraging them along the way, and knowing when it's time to let go. These are the hands that will lovingly work to make your house a home. These are the hands that will give you support as she encourages you to chase down your dreams. Together, as a team, everything you wish for can be realized.
again the host couple spoke:
Dear God, bless the hands that you see before you this day. May they always be held by one another. Give them the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment. Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship founded in trust, rich in caring, and respect. May all of you see four hands as a symbol of everlasting devotion to each other
