We had to take my dad to the ER on Christmas Eve night
Original post by JanuaryBride06
When he walked into my aunt's house, his left wrist was grossly swollen. This was 5pm. For the next five hours, I begged him to leave and go the ER (my mother's begging for the previous 48 hours went ignored).
He ate his dinner through the pain, like the soldier that he is. He grimaced after dinner. He ate his dessert with his right hand, holding up his left one, trying to convice us that the cannolis were making him feel better. I got his coat and told him that I wasn't asking him anymore and to get his azz in the car. Then he was ready to go. Finally, finally, finally at 11pm, my mother and I walk into the ER.
Do you know how many young guys seek treatment for chest pains only to be told that its indigestion?
Anyway...in under one hour, Dad is x-rayed, shot up with a pain killer and wrist wrapped. Severe tendonitis. Slept through the night (unlike the previous two nights) and woke up ready to Christmas Day feast.

Glad to hear it's nothing crazy. Like botulism. Don't you think that should make you swell up? I don't know if it does. It just sounds like it would make you blow up.
LOL - You are crazy.
The classic symptoms of botulism include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, and muscle weakness. Infants with botulism appear lethargic, feed poorly, are constipated, and have a weak cry and poor muscle tone. These are all symptoms of the muscle paralysis caused by the bacterial toxin. If untreated, these symptoms may progress to cause paralysis of the arms, legs, trunk and respiratory muscles. In foodborne botulism, symptoms generally begin 18 to 36 hours after eating a contaminated food, but they can occur as early as 6 hours or as late as 10 days.

I was really nervous posting that - after I hit 'post reply' I though 'Hmmm... what's the Kat going to do with 'make you swell up'....
