FH and I were on our way back from meeting w/ the Rabbi in Hempstead and we were getting on the SSPky at exit 17 when traffic slowed.
We come off the ramp and there was a HUGE fire accross ALL lanes of SS just past the overpass!!!!
We drove back up the on-ramp with the other ppl to get away.
It was the scariest thing we have ever seen!!
The SS is backed up for miles now and they are saying it was an accident resulting in a car fire.
I really hope every one is OK .
There werent even police on the scene when we left.

yes- we are ok- but god thing we were late getting to the Rabbi b/c it made us late getting home

wow ...that is why i never take the SS...Plus that area around exit 17-19 is very dangerous...I think there was a bad accident there yesterday...

wow that is insane. I saw that once on the highway, it was on the other side and at first i didnt see the fire but noticed tons of people running across the highway to get to the otherside. It was insane and we all had to stop but it was amazing to see how many people ran out of their cars and ran across the highway to run over and help.

Hey there was an accident at exit 24 and then 26.. i was sitting in that traffic bc my exit is 26..

holy crap, i was just on the SS but east of that
we saw 2 accidents tonight, one was on meadowbrook - a dog ran into the right lane (dont know WHERE it came from on the meadowbrook) which resulted in an accident
AND
a woman hit a guy on a motorcycle, he wasnt hurt too bad - just shaken up but she just sat in the car ... i pulled over and asked if he was ok and the woman goes 'hes holding up traffic cause he cant pick his bike up' i was like *** ... get out of the car and help him biitch, you just HIT HIM with your CAR
there was gas everywhere, we called the cops - he was ok. The guy was sitting on the side of the road, next to his motorcycle COVERED in gas and went to light a cig ... i ripped it from his mouth we could have ALL been dead
