FH and I were on our way back from meeting w/ the Rabbi in Hempstead and we were getting on the SSPky at exit 17 when traffic slowed.

We come off the ramp and there was a HUGE fire accross ALL lanes of SS just past the overpass!!!!

We drove back up the on-ramp with the other ppl to get away.

It was the scariest thing we have ever seen!!

The SS is backed up for miles now and they are saying it was an accident resulting in a car fire.

I really hope every one is OK .

There werent even police on the scene when we left.

is from yesterday morning- it sounds like the same exact thing in almost the same spot

Hope everyone's ok! What a bad day for people. I know this isn't a big deal but we were in the city earlier and some guy crossed too late and the van going by hit him....his shoulder literally closed the van's side mirror. Not a major deal but people need to WATCH OUT!!

yep! i've seen a car fire before..definately scary! and the really scary part, is when i passed one..i could feel the heat from my car !!

omg that is why southern state was empty on my way home from school

i go to hofstra and get on from the meadowbrook exit which is 22 so i must have been passed it but seriously southern state was empty i guess they werent letting anyone through east or west side

but when was the accident at exit 24 and 26 i must have been passed those as that happened

and karin was the meadowbrooke accident this afternoon around 6pm? because i thought i saw a couple cars sitting on the side of the road as i was driving to school.
