... from my DH's grandfather for Xmas. It's got $400.00 on it. We appreciate his generousity, but we could really use the $400.00 instead towards bills or baby stuff, you know? We just don't need the card. I called Sears, and all they could tell me was that you can use it at any Sears stores, not just the Auto Center. That still doesn't help though.

buy something worth $400 and then return it...and you will get your $400 back
....Or sell the sears card on Ebay and you will get most of tyhe $400 back..Put it down as buy it now for $380
or you can get stuff for the baby at sears. Or clothes and stuff for the two of you. Or elctronic stuff.
sounds like a terrific safety net, if you need tires or your stove goes...I would make believe I never got it and save for a rainy day
