we are trying to get some medical attention for her, she is not in the greatest shape but if she can be helped we would keep her. We called ASCAP and other places but they only see young animals. Does any one knows a Vet that is not too expensive and does a sort of social service for abandoned animals?
Thanks,
Elena

I was just going to say bidewee in wantagh.. they are VERY inexpensive and see all dogs!!
My FI is a veternarian and owns Jefferson Animal Hospital in Port Jefferson Station. I know he gives discounts for rescued animals. Ask for Brian. 631-473-0415.

Re: We rescued a dog, now ...
Thanks for all the posts girls! For some reason I could not open them until now! Well, we are taking her tomorrow at a Vet (a friend of us works as an assistant there) and let's see what happens, we think that she has cancer
It is so sad what some people can do to animals! She is a pitbull and she definitely has been so badly abused, with us she has become so protective and nice, but she is not too friendly to other dogs ... and we already have Mystic (black lab), so if we keep her we have to do a serious re-training on her.
I will keep you posted girls!
thanks for listening!

I think there are a few bid a wees that do social services for animals. FH's buddy from high school has been doing this at one out in Suffolk I believe. It may be near Moriches, but I think he travels to different locations. I'd check them out. From what he was telling me their program is extensive.

Re: We rescued a dog, now ...
First, thanks girls for been there to help! Now, good knews, the dog does not have cancer, she has a tumor but it is not cancer. She is now under antibiotics because she has an infection on the tumor, but that's it. It would be removed when they spay her. Things get even better, our friend knows someone that might want to adopt her, in a way makes me happy, but secretly I wish we could keep her She is so cute, but she needs also a lot of training ... let's see what happens few days from now.
Thanks again girls! If we keep her, definitely will try to go to one of these places that you recomended.
