We went and registered over the weekend .... (with some questions)
We registered at BB&B and at Macy's and though i know nothing will be bought off it anytime soon ... i am already obbessed with going on it ... i keep adding things switching things .... i can see its going to be a very bad obsession ... so on a side note anyone not regestering fro Crystal stemware .... no offenise to anyone else i honestly dont like it at all ... also anyone else not regestering for fine china .... i registered for everyday dinnerware ... but me and FH arent really into fine china ... i cant see someone spending over a 100 on one place setting ... so right now i reg. for this Lenox Butterfly pattern set (t comes with galss cups and wine galsses that match) ... i might end up taking it off ... its not really considered fine china but i wont be using it everyday ... so any thoughts ...
Re: We went and registered over the weekend .... (with some questions)
We didn't register for China, FH doesn't want to. He'd rather wait until we get a house and have somewhere to put it.
And, when I first registered, I was on there all the time too!!!!!
I rarely go on anymore, I made all the changes that I want to, as of right now, and, I don't want to know if things have been purchased!

we registered this weekend too!! only at macy's so far...but we also didn't register for fine china. we registered for 'everyday china' and i do intend to use it all the time.
i felt the same way, i don't need it, and we're only going to use it a handful of times throughout our lives so for me i don't think it's necessary. don't get me wrong i would LOVE to have some really beautiful china...but i can't see my family buying it anyway...and i'd rather have other things.
those dishes are SO pretty, i love them!!

see i cant see my family buying me it really either and i really dont care about them ... and thank you about the dishes ... since i wont be using these everyday ... they will be considered my 'fine china' and i will only use them for speical occasions ... the best part is a set of 6 setting is about 150 ... so there not too expensive ..

I will be registering for china, but honestly, I have no interest in registering for crystal stemware either. I feel like my mother will flip out but oh well. I too just don't like any of the crystal I saw, and I saw it all. I like normal wine glasses much better.

FH & I were not going to register for fine china until my MOH put it to me this way...
You are only 32 years old right now.. You don't NEED china at all..you won't need it for maybe another 10 years.. BUT - 10 years from now - you are going to have 2 kids and a mortgage and car payments & you won't have the money to get it then. Now is the time that people want to buy you things that you will need for your future so register for it now - store it somewhere and don't regret it in 10 years..
I thought she had a valid point...

Not going to register for fine china either. We just wont ever ever use it so it would be a dust collector only.

This is the exact argument I presented to FH. He didn't buy it. He still thinks that we don't need it, and we don't have the room.
I'm still working on him!!!

We aren't registering for fine china or crystal stemware...
We registered for dishes that are kind of inbetween everyday and fine. We wanted to pick out something that we COULD pull out for guests if we had company, but something that we felt comfortable eating off of everyday...

I have to say - when I said this to FH he was like, wow...she's smart.. I guess that's also because we have a basement..
Is there any place you could store it? Maybe at your parents' or his parents' house in the attic or something? Maybe if you come up with a plan of action as to where to put it for now - it'd help the situation...

I'm registering for China and stemware but not for bedding...honestly its YOUR registry...put on there what you would like to have as a wedding gift...not everyone uses fine china and if you think its a waste then don't even bother...there are so many sets of 'casual' china that are friggin awesome you really almost don't need to anymore....I am because I'm an obnoxious guinea but to each their own Good luck...I think I'm registering this weekend coming up....was it fun?

Jess, we have 6 closets. 6, in a 2 bedroom apartment. Granted, right now they are full of crap, but, that's just because we need to clean them out!!!
I just think there is no arguing this with him. But, he's going to be hurting when after we get a house, I go out and spend $1k plus on china!!!!!

We started registering this weekend too but at Fortunoff! We did register for China and Crystal Stemware -- both are very simple. I know not everyone is into it so just register for you what you feel comfortable with. I don't expect to get it all but if I do then great!
