And the stove doesn't seem to work! I am confused to why this is.....when you turn the knob you hear the click click click but NO flame...not even the smell of gas! What the hell!????

You should get that checked out. There could be a problem with the setup to the gas source.

Usually if you hear the 'click, click' noise, it means you have an automatic electric ignitor, so there probably isn't a pilot light problem.
It could very well be that the gas is just shut off and needs to be turned back on when you move in. It's very common for landlords to turn gas off when they don't have a tenant because the density (or maybe weight) of natural gas are such that it costs a lot to just have it sitting in the pipe.
