Weaning from bottles...

Weaning from bottles...

My poor baby is being weaned from so many things at once...

When is the right time to wean from bottles? At his daycare they seem to want the babies to be off of bottles and onto sippy cups when they move up to the next room when they're 1 year old. Caiden doesn't seem to care too much about the sippy cups. He'll drink it when he sees other kids drinking out of theirs though. How do I get him to drink out of them, or am I rushing it? Thanks!

Just my opinion but a baby should not be weaned from more than one thing at a time, unless he/she does it on their own. If you are weaning Caiden from nursing then do not feel any pressure to wean him to sippy cups at the same time. That could be a lot all at once for him.
Molly hated all sippy cups until after she was off breastmilk. One day I took out a much hated sippy cup, filled it with milk and she drank it..out of no where. That was the day of her last bottle. But I did not force the issue at all. She just liked it one day. I am sure the same will happen for Caiden.
Daycare is NOT your child's parent so therefore Caiden can stay on his bottle as long as YOU want him to....don't forget that. You pay them to care for your son, not give set milestones for your son.

I could not agree more with michele!
My son did not want to give up his bottle at all - he hated the sippy cups -
I remember it happened out of nowhere - on his 2nd Birthday - during his party - he did not want the bottle anymore!
When they are ready they let you know - don't let anyone dictate the rate in which your child grows.
