Re: Wearing a veil
Ok I knew the whole 'white dress = virgin' thing is an old wives tale like you can find here
'The white wedding dress in those days had nothing to do with being virtuous - it was all about wealth. Getting married in a white, extravagant gown was a sign that you could afford to buy a dress that you would never be able to wear again because of its style and color (whites were not easy to clean in those days as they are today!).'
After reading your post I looked up the tradition of a wedding veil and found this
So the original purpose of both had nothing to do with virginity...and it was probably busybody old ladies that started the myth that they did.

Re: Wearing a veil
Thank you misci918 for the articles...my favorite part of the first one is 'married in yellow ashamed of your fellow'... they reallllyyyyyyyy had a lot of free time back then to think up these ridiculous rhymes...but anyway THANKS!!! I feel better about it now.
I really like this veil coupled with the tiara....I want to wear my hair half up and half down with the mantilla draped over the pin up section for the ceremony....what do you all think???

Re: Wearing a veil
I don't understand the deal with all these 'rules' and 'customs' that people are constantly tossing about. I have been with DH for 10 years now, many of those years spent living in sin! Yes, I wore a white dress AND a veil! Do whatever makes you happy and screw everything people have to say - this is YOUR wedding!

Wear the veil! Times are so different now, and no one will 'talk'!
