Wearing the wedding gown twice???

I will have 2 wedding banquets - one here and one overseas. and I was told by my friends that I should NOT wear my wedding gown twice as it symbolizes me getting married more than once??

Is it true??

Please advise!! Thanks!!

Somehow they are of the opinion that wearing the gown twice symbolizes marrying more than once but having 2 ceremonies doesn't? I'm missing the logic.

I think it's awesome that you'll have a 2nd chance to enjoy your wedding gown. If you love it, go for it! It is a bit crazy that we spend so much time and money on our dresses and most of us only get one chance to wear it. You're so lucky! Enjoy!!

I think this is nonsense -- how lucky you are to get to wear your beautiful gown twice. My friend is from China and she is having three wedding dinners - one in NY, one in Canada, one in China and wearing it three times!!! Lucky.

THANK YOU, GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!

When I first heard that we'll have to have another banquet overseas (as FFIL won't be able to make it to the wedding here), I was a little upset, since it means more $$, more planning, and a lot of guests that I don't even know. The only thing I was happy about was the opportunity to wear the gown again, then my friends give me a big 'NO'..!!

I am sooo glad I hear a second opinion from you girls!!!!

I say wear it twice! There is a bride on here that got married recently (I can't remember who) that had a wedding in Italy and here and wore her dress twice!

IMO marriage is about love and committment, not superstition. If you are meant to be and constantly work on your relationship, wearing a piece of clothing twice isn't going to break you up!

It was ThongLori. She got married in Italy first, and then had another reception at the Harrison House. There are pictures of her in her dress at both places, with different hair styles. Looks great...you should do it.

(IMO, I wouldn't check the gown on the flight- bring it with you on the plane)

Wear it again. A friend had a NY wedding & reception and a New Orleans reception a few months later. She did not get to wear her dress again but only because she had already had it heirloomed. She had to buy a new dress.

Wearing two different dresses symbolizes that your wasting money lol Dont listen to your friends, wear it twice. I feel like if you wear two different dresses its MORE like you are getting married twice..if you wear the same one you are just trying to re-create your day!
