Wearing white to a wedding...
Original post by JimmysBride
Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this just about the most obnoxious a person can do? I went to a wedding in August where one of the bride's 'friends' who was running around with bridal party all day (for some strange reason) must've felt compelled to wear this atrociously tight, too short, partially SEE-THROUGH white dress!!! Nevermind the fact that she looked positively profane in this hooker get-up, she wore WHITE to her friend's wedding. The bride was in Ivory, BTW. I turned to my cousin who was a BM (and will be a BM in my wedding) and said 'who's the b!tch in white?'. She gave me this confused look. She had no idea why I was appalled that this chick was wearing white. Come on now, I thought this was a known thing...you don't wear white to a wedding... am I wrong?

I think you just can't expect people NOT to wear black. Most women have black dresses. I personally don't wear colored dresses because I don't like them. If I was going to someone's wedding and they told me no black dress and I was prepared to give them a nice gift, believe me I would reduce the $ in the gift just b/c of the nerve.

wow really, you would take offense?? I just feel that black is for evening and when you see a lot of people wear black at a wedding, it seems like people are more dressed for a funeral than a wedding.....but it is very commom, I wouldn't really make it an issue for my guest, I just personally cant stand that.

This is so funny. I totally agree that only the bride should wear white. There were four guests at my wedding in white, including my cousin and her 17 year old daughter. I didn't notice any of them on the day, it made no impression on me. It's only when I saw the raw footage that I realized. I don't think anyone was trying to compete with me, but a white dress at a wedding is too attention seeking.
