I just thought it was interesting that what they're calling 'modern brides' who think it's okay. I definitely know from hanging around the modern brides on this board that it's still NOT.

Re: Wearing white to a wedding
Didn't we have a whole thread exactly about that? lol
Thanks for sharing! I hope no one wears white to my wedding.
Last summer I wore a sundress that was a white base with large flowers on it with a small white bolero. I asked the bride before the wedding if it would be ok, and she said of course. I felt like I fit right in (it was in New Orleans). I wouldn't wear white without checking with the bride first, and if I had any question about it, I'd just not wear it.
I'm also kinda hoping no one wears black to my wedding.

I dont think you should wear white unless you are a bride.
A dress with white in it is fine, but it just seems wrong tro wear a white dress.

At my sister's wedding, BIL's uncle wore an entirely white suit (mid-life crisis). As my mother was walking down the aisle, she did a double-take. You could see the ***?! on her face. So I would say this should be true for both genders.

Your MIL is not JUST wearing white, she's wearing white with a train. Double no no. It's one day, why do people HAVE to wear white?

Re: Wearing white to a wedding
Yeah its not ok to wear white, I don't care what someone writes about it. I just went to a wedding wear the brides dress was almost gold though and one of my friends wore gold not knowing, so brides if you care and your dress isn't white, you should probably spread the word.
By the way, I don't think you should wear the BM dress color either to someones wedding if you know the color and you can help it. Unless its black.

Your MIL is going to look kinda pathetic IMO.
I'm a little annoyed at mine... she's wearing a dress she got that she thinks is the same color as the BMs but I know it's not going to match exactly. I wish she'd just gotten a different color all together. No one listens to me, though.
As far as black goes, I'm having a morning/afternoon wedding in July... I'd rather people wear colorful sundresses than black, so we'll see. Pastels are ideal to me. But I can't tell everyone what to do.

my MIL saw an ivory dress that she liked and i automatically told her no. it just wouldnt right for the MIL to be in the same exact color as the Bride...

Re: Wearing white to a wedding
I think wearing white to a wedding is plain out RUDE.
I know one girl who comes from out of the country and went to a wedding here wearing a white dress, I guess there was some sort of cultural barrier there. Anyway she said everyone was looking at her the entire night and she could tell they were talking about her. She said she would never go to another wedding again wearing anything close to white.

I personally feel that no one should wear white to a wedding and Im praying nobody does to mine either.
But I have a question? why would you care if people wore black? Everyone wears black and Im sure a lot of people at your wedding will be wearing it
