My dress has a detachable train. When I was getting one of my fittings, my FMIL said that I *MUST* wear the train into the reception hall, because some people may not come to the church. My view was 'too bad for them.' I don't want to wear it in and then have to leave right away so someone can take it off and then come back for my first dance. What do you think? What is everyone else doing?

Re: Wearing your train to the reception?
mine is not detachable but i am bustling at the recpetion hall when i get there after pictures.....do whatever you want - if they miss the church then they miss the church - whatever makes you more comforatble i think!

Re: Wearing your train to the reception?
I was going to get a detachable, but then I liked my dress better for other reasons. IMHO I think the presentation & first dance look better with the train on & it is easy enough to take off after the BM/MOH toast(s). Also, your photographer may have some creative photographs that will look better with a train, like if there is a pretty staircase.
BUT... it is your day, so it is ultimately your decision.

Re: Wearing your train to the reception?
I had a detachable train and what a pain it was. Every time we hooked it, it would unhook itself! It seemed that if I only walked straight, it would stay attached, but once I took a turn, it detached itself! When you go for your fittings, try to walk around with the detachable train to see if it would stay attached.
Needless to say, we took my train off right before the receiving line. I agree that if people don't make the ceremony, that's their lose.

I say, do what YOU want. I am of the mind of to hell with those who missed the ceremony. So check another one for your side!

I am bustling mine before I go down to cocktail hour - I don't want anyone stepping on it by accident
