Wedding 101

Hello Everyone,

I have some stupid questions here...

1) When do the wedding invitations go out (3months 4months before the wedding)????

2) When does the bridal shower take place (3months 4months before the wedding)???

My mother seems to think that you should see who is going to attend the wedding and then invite them to the shower (I disagree)

invites: should be mailed 6-8 weeks before your wedding day...

technically the shower is supposed to be whatever women are invited to the wedding...that was too many for me so I cut it down to the most important women...family and close friends...

I mailed my invitations out 10 weeks in advance - I wanted to give people more time to respond. (and that still didn't help btw - we had to make many phone calls!)

I would say invites get mailed out 8-10 weeks before. Closer to the wedding, people might have plans, further from the wedding and people might forget (hard to believe). If you are getting married on a holiday weekend or have a lot of out of town guests you might consider sending out 'Save The Date Cards'.

The shower should be at least 2 weeks before the wedding. Some brides want the wedding invites to go out before the shower invites.
