wedding babysitter

wedding babysitter

almost everyone coming to our wedding on the north fork is coming from out of town and they are staying the entire weekend. some are bringing their kids who are invited to the rehearsal, bbq, brunch, etc., but not to the actual wedding. i have found some babysitters for the night of the wedding who are wiling to come to the hotel and babysit. my question is, do i think i should pay for them, or is the responsibility of the parents?

what do you think?

How much are they charging?

I would say it is the parent's responsibility to pay. The fact that you have made clear that there are invited to everything minus the actual wedding would incline a person to make arrangements themselves. That's just my opinion.

the fee is $15/hour per child.

I think that's kind of steep...I would say since you are inviting the kids to everything else that it would be the parents responsibility to pay for someone to watch their kids.

is that expensive? hmmmmm i don't have kids, so i don't know what the going rate is. i guess if it were me i would leave the kids at home for the weekend and have a mini-vacation, but maybe not everybody is in a position to do that.

I think thats very expensive - I mean think about it - at least 5 hours X $15 is $75 per child. Some people have like 3 children. IMO its just too much.

Do you know how many children there will be approx? Id try and work a deal out or get someone else.

I have babysat at weddings and I find that price to be way to expensive....I could see the 15/hr...I usually charge $15-18/hr but definitely not per child...Also when I babysat at weddings the bride and groom have paid me and then the parents of the children will give me a little tip, but it can go either way...I am planning on a having a babysitter at my hotel and we are planning on paying for it HTH

this making me think maybe i misunderstood the babysitter and she was saying that she and her friends charge $15 per person (i.e. per babysitter), not per child. thanks, this really helps!

My brother and SIL did this. They were all set to pay the babysitter's for their time, but when it came time to do it, my family said that they were happy a sitter was set up for them to not worry that they would take care of the cost. It's a nice touch to offer.

I am having children at my wedding so I have my sister in laws niece watching them. I have to feed her and pay her for the day so it's going to cost me about 150. If she were watching the children at home I would gladly give her 200 for the 5 hours. 8 children @ 51$ is 408$ So she's saving me money!

Same for me. I have babysat for weddings as well. The bride and groom usually pay for it, like a vendor. The last person gave me $20 an hour, but not per child at all. If I was going to do per child it would probably be like $5 per child per hour....

Ok, sounds like that is THE job for me if its $15/hr per child! That is quite a bit of money, maybe you are right that each babysitter gets $15/hr.
If its per child per hour, I say we all get together and start 'The Babysitters Club' so we can all have money to pay for our weddings!
