We didn't get ours yet, we only went to the place he got my e-ring from but FH was looking at titanium rings for everyday. He is getting 2, one for work (since he works outside) and one for dressy......the everyday one he loved the titanium ones.....they actually are really nice and he loved the way they looked. I am not sure what he will choose for his dressy one.....my BIL also has titanium and he loves it.
FH found a wedding band that was silver with two thin 'bullet' lines outlining the band. Its a two toned wedding band of silver and 14 ct gold. He was originally trying on platinum bands so that we could get matching bands but we didn't like the way it looked on his hand.
My FH got a really nice platinum band. Funny though - last night he was saying that he wants a second one for work (he's a cop) and when he goes fishing. Since he just brought it up, we haven't looked into it, but I've heard tungsten and titanium and paladium (or something like that, something with a p) are good.
i think my fh got tungsten too- he likes the look better than a shiny white gold or platinum. my brother has a titanium ring for the same reason. FYI though- only thing is that both those metals have to be special ordered and can never be sized OR CUT. so if he works in a hands on or outdoor job, it may not be safe...
we just bought fh a titanium ring.

we are both getting platinum bands
We both got white gold because it was so cheap. FH eventually wants a platinum ring, but the cost of platinum is WAY high right now and we couldn't afford it.
