so we picked our wedding bands but did not purchase them because they told me it would cost an extra $250 to size my band
Is that normal we know nothing about jewelry and my mom and FH dont think that sounds right. the ring is almost all diamonds but not completely around so there is a sizing bar

Re: wedding band sizing??
i dont think there should be a sizing fee. If anything, you pay more or less for the size u are ordering

Re: wedding band sizing??
Wow that does sound high. FH just got his band which was 14K white gold. They had to go up 1/2 size and charged $30. IMO I'd question it

that doesnt make much sense. If they already have a ring in the store, they should have a price on it (it should be cheaper than to order a NEW one b/c they already bought the ring and its paid for). To me, thats BS that they cant size it. Isnt that their business??

Re: wedding band sizing??
I just got my wedding band, which is an eternity band that doesn't even have a sizing bar, and the one they had in store was like a size 7 and I needed a size 4 3/4, so they had to special order it and they didn't charge me anything extra.

Re: wedding band sizing??
FH and I just ordered ours, and both rings had to be ordered...there was no 'sizing' charge. But, they might have built it into the price, so I really couldn't say!

Re: wedding band sizing??
so, for my wedding band there was no resizing fee.
however, for an old diamond ring i had it was a channel set band not an eternity band but it did go quite far around. most places told me they wouldn't size it because it would ruin the ring, one place charged me to add gold balls to it to size it instead. either way the price I was quoted was never higher than $50. If you are ADDING gold, it can get more expensive, but not if you are taking it away. plus, your shop should be able to order it in your size and there should be no additional charge.
as for the pricing be different b/c it's an 'old' price... that's just lame. Did you speak to a manager?
was it a style ring you can get elsewhere?

Re: wedding band sizing??
Thanks ladies for the help i went yesterday and bought my ring somewhere else. I dont know why the Karat Shop did what they did. I guess they wanted to make more money off of us since we weren't spending alot.
I went to the commack jewelry exchange and explained to them what had happened and they were even confused. I am now getting the ring ( a little bigger) and made just for me.
