Wedding Bands

We are beginning to look for wedding bands. Any suggestions. I am looking for a platinum band with princess cut diamonds to match my engagemen ring. Has anyone looked at Elsa? Thanks

i have an awesome jewler, if you are interested email me. he makes whatever you want and you pick the cut color & clarity of the diamonds, he starts with loose stones.
and he sells at wholesale. this is where my ering came from and i must say he is awesome.

Re: Wedding Bands

I ordered my rings at Elsa's plus a new engagement setting, plus he is making my original e-ring into a plain band. I will let everyone know how they come out.

I am probably getting this ring except all the way around. My e-ring is princess center stone with two side baguettes. I have been searching forever and keep coming back to this ring. Originally, I thought I needed to get princess stones in the wedding band but this ring the bars around the round stones make them look square. It wasn't as sparkly with princess diamonds.

I am also considering this ring. I would have never thought just by looking at it but the bars between the stomes again make the stones look sqaure. Diamonds next to diamonds also sparkle more than the baguettes in between.

My FH & I went to Elsa's yesterday. We thought they were great!!!! Very personable, not pushy sales person. We got there VERY early for our appt & they took us early. We contracted them to make a custom ring to match my e-ring & I am ordering 2 rings for FH from them. So all in all we are spending alot more then we planned but I felt extremely comfortable with them. We go back Saturday for another appointment for them to cast my ring. I can't wait!!!!

Where is Elsa's? Also if nobody minds can you tell me how much you spent for your eternity band there and also for those who bought rings at Karat shop? Price and how many carats it is all the way around. thanks.

i am getting almost the same as i mentioned previously, diamonds & baguettes with all d colored stones & vvs1 clarity, like my ering.
heres what FH wants:

The Tiffany Lucinda (which is a cross between a radiant and a square) eternity band is about $2K for the 1/2 version and about $7K for the full.

Sorry, I don't have a photo but its featured in almost all the wedding mags. Namely, on the back page of the latest Martha Stewart.

PS: Im not getting this ring but I just wanted to post prices for comparison. I know this is on the very high end of the scale.

Re: Wedding Bands

true stef-i think my band is costing $1500 because we get it wholesale, i am getting half full, i am too hard on my hands. i am actually going to my jeweler tomorrow for FH diamond earrings to give him on the morning of our wedding. yes early but i am now in vacation for 2 weeks so what better time!..i'll find out the exact price for mine. lets see what this will be...oh jeez! lol

Jen- For 1,500 what kind of metal and how many carats of diamonds and what shape are you getting? Just curious.

my wedding band will be platinum like me e ring. as i said i'll be getting d colored (colorless) stones and vvs1 (almost flawless in clarity). a flawless, perfect diamond is hard to come by and super expensive.
the band will be of round diamonds and baguettes to match my e ring.
the amount of carats will be decided when we pick out the stones, I'll see what looks nice on my hand. i also do not want to take away from my e ring, so the total carat weight will be figured out at the end.

Re: Wedding Bands

As I may have said, we have been getting jewelery from our jewler for years. My dad got his wife's ering & diamond band there and of course my FH got my ering there too. He sells wholesale which makes a big difference. Jewlery stores mark up to 3 TIMES the price of what they pay for it!! That is so nuts. Thats why I offered his info. to anyone on the board, you get so much more for your money this way. We are very happy with him. When FH & I got my ring appraised, it MORE than doubled in value! Good Investment.
Us Ladies (& men) are spending SOOO much on one day, why not have a great wedding band? (Not saying everyones isn't great-from these pics they are stunning, and it's not the value, it the meaning behind it !), after all you are going to wear the band for the rest of your life, make it a good one and get your moneys worth!!
I am sorry if I sound in any way 'snobbish' or whichever way you may perceive my post in a wrong way. My dad has learned, and now he has taught me alot about diamonds that I was so clueless about. I am just offering you a great place. A great place doesn't have to be one on the board or one everyone goes too.
Email me if anyone wants any info and all the best to everyone no matter what your choice may be.I am not getting married untill May but when I have it (march?) I'll post it. hopefully it comes out great in the pic.

Re: Wedding Bands

Jenn - not sure if you can answer this or not but I figured Id ask.

How can something be sold for 1/2 the value of an appraisal? Is jewelery apprasial different that other types of property? It seems to me that an appraisal should be equal to what the market value of an item is and could not be sold for less without someone taking a loss.

Re: Wedding Bands

When you buy jewelry or diamonds from macy's, a jewlery store etc...you are paying 2-3 times a markup of what they paid for it, so thats where you'll get an appraisal amount of WHAT you paid for it (or a little more), When you buy WHOLESALE, it appraises for double because thats the value of what it can be sold for in a jewlery store, thats why alot of people don't buy from jewlery stores!
I insured my ring for the appraisal value & we couldn't be happier!!
