wedding bands ... check! (whoa!)

wedding bands ... check! (whoa!)

we have our wedding bands!! i have always wanted to wear two, one of them being a plain platinum band. I had a 20% off coupon to blue nile, so i ordered it the other day and it's beautiful!! i also ordered FH's wedding band, which he loves. I was able to get both for a little over $300 with the coupon.

also, my grandmother surprised me today and offered me her 60 year old platinum and diamond wedding band. I tried it on today (it fits me perfectly!) and I am just in love with it. It needs a major cleaning, which I am going to try to do tomorrow. I will wear this band directly under my engagement ring, with the platinum band on the bottom.

FH's band is in my album - he chose a brushed 'white' tungsten band. he has my platinum band and is bringing it over tomorrow so i'll post a picture of me wearing all three tomorrow.

i am so happy my grandma is giving me her ring. i really always wanted some sort of heirloom and now i will have this to pass on to my own granddaughter!!

as a side note, after going to the bridal showcase at three village inn yesterday, we upgraded our DJ package to include uplighting, even though i swore i would never do it!

GORGEOUS!!! I currently wear my grandmothers wedding band on my right hand.

As for the cleaning... try vinegar. white vinegar. I use it to clean my rings and it works AMAZINGLYYYYY. Even better than the cleaner I got from a jeweler.

I would also recommend having it steam cleaned at your jewelers first and then do the vinegar as like 'upkeep'.

exactly! i want the jeweler to do a real cleaning since i really don't think it's been cleaning in a decade. and then i'll try the white vinegar - thanks for the tip!

Uww! It's so beautiful! Congratsl!!

Little bit of dish soap mixed in water and a baby toothbrush does the trick when I clean my jewelry :) just something to try

I like that even though you have a thin engagement band, that the wedding band is thick! Very nice :)

My one friend SWEARS by toothpaste. Like.. the actual plain white pastey kind... not the gel or anything fancy lol.

I typically use the vinegar and let them sit once a week while i'm in the shower (usually on a monday so its all pretty for work). I stick a little bit of the blue dawn in the vinegar mix and my rings are gorgeous and shiny!!

have you ever felt like cleaning that often loosens the stone? that's the only thing i'm worried about which is why i usually only go like every 2 months to the jeweler. i'm not sure if i'm paranoid or not

I'm worried about this too. That hard streaming steam scare me lol. I found dishwashing detergent like cascade works wonders

I soak mine in hot water with a little isopropyl alcohol in it. Then I rub all the nooks with a baby tooth brush. Always comes out super sparkly. But nothing beats the jewelers steaming!

So far so good. I do this with my grandma's wedding band also. Both my e-ring and her ring are vintage antique. I don't scrub them and when I do I use the soft bristle brush that came with the jewelry cleaner I have. I also take super fast showers so its never soaked for more than like... 8 minutes.

My friend who does hers with toothpaste does it every day.

I also take my rings off for showering, cleaning, doing dishes and polishing my nails. That is what my jeweler advised me to do . She said the shampoo and conditioner getting under the diamond and in the setting is what loosens it.

i also take my e-ring off for showering and manicures -- i'm religious about it!

i got this ring steamed today - wow what a difference!!
