wedding bands (rings) question

wedding bands (rings) question

FH and I are Jewish ... in order for us Jews to marry, the woman needs a plain gold band. FH and I are borrowing his great grandmother's for this. But I also bought one

so how exactly would i do this?

I'd obviously get married in the gold band ... but when do i switch rings to my own ring?

I should add that his great grandmother's ring is VERY small and doesn't fit over my knuckle.

Also, i NEED this pic (though i guess it can be taken anytime, even after the ceremony)

thanks everyone

Re: wedding bands (rings) question

my band has a rounded part so it fits against my ering. dh put it on my finger on top of my ering during the ceremony (the wrong side) and then after we walked back down the aisle and went inside, i switched it around

Maybe after the ceremony and before the reception?

Re: wedding bands (rings) question

ok i did this when I got married years ago. I borrowed my friend's grandmother's ring ...all gold...and after I signed my ketubah etc..I switched to my diamond band.

I don't think it matters if it goes over your knuckle. it's symbolic.

Re: wedding bands (rings) question

we used DH's ring - all yellow gold. it meant something to me to use as we had an orthodox Sephardic ceremony where only the woman gets the ring put on her finger - so I was really happy to include it in the ceremony

the moment we left the ceremony room and went for our 18mins of togetherness , the 1st thing we did was: I took off his ring and made a speech to him about how much I love him and put the ring on his finger. then he made a speech and put my diamond wedding band on my finger.

so basically we had a small ceremony of our own in the bridal suite

this was kinda our Rabbi's idea

That's adorable

We're both having rings at the actual ceremony ... but i'll prob do what everyone here said - just switch rings immediately after the ceremony

Thanks everybody!

similar asnwer
but I'm getting two bands- a plain white gold one and a diamond one and will stack them with my e-ring. so for the ceremony i'll use the plain one and during our yichud (alone time) i'll put my other one on

also in teh ceremony the bride puts out her index finger and the groom puts the ring just on the edge of her finger so if it doesnt fit well it should be ok
