what are you trying to keep your budget at? fh & i are trying to keep it under 25k. which is possible thanks to the good people at smcc. what is more important to you? a small wedding for only a small amount of $$?? or do you have to have the whole shebang?

Re: wedding budget
I wanted to keep it under $30K, because that's what would really be within our means (maybe I should have looked at SMCC before I looked at NRC...I wouldn't be in the position I'm in today), but my hall is taking most of that away.
After we add everything up, it looks like it'll be about $50K, which seems like SO much, but we're really not planning anything extravagant. It just really adds up..and I have a HUGE family...so it had to be at a big place and a large guest list

Re: wedding budget
thats part of my problem to - the f'in guest list. i have family that we cannot cut so we may start zapping the neighbors and extended extended family. fh family is big, not mine, and we've already spoken about cutting it. so, we;ll see

Re: wedding budget
I initially set our budget at $25K - but found quickly that if we wanted one of the few halls we had our hearts set on, we'd have to up the budget. So now it's more like $40K!
From the start, the things that have been important to us are having ALL of our family and friends to a waterfront location (preferably north shore, just for logistical reasons). I didn't want to go somewhere completely over the top and have to eliminate people from the invitation list. So after we decided on our hall, we opted for a Friday night. From there, the other details don't matter much to me, except for the honeymoon - which will be a splurge.
We did upgrade our CH, because we both feel that's what makes the best impresion to our guests, and I want to find a dj who will work woth me on an ecclectic music range.
Hopefully it all works out as I envision it!

Re: wedding budget
We originally thought $25,000, but it will be $30,000 with everything else added in. (Other then rings and honeymoon which we are paying for).

Re: wedding budget
we are paying for EVERYTHING and trying to buy a house, so keeping it under $20,000 is our ultimate goal...and I intend to make it. You will find that, if you really think about it, a lot of the stuff vendors try to get you to buy (upgrades EVERYWHERE) you really don't need.

Re: wedding budget
We are only having about 100-115 people, so we are sticking with a $20K budget. FH's family is paying for the photographer. My family hasn't mentioned anything yet.

Re: wedding budget
I'm hoping for 25k or less. So far in our planning we are doing ok.

Re: wedding budget
hopefully no more than 30k and even that's pushing it. I would rather spend a little more then be frugal (spelling?). I'm def frugal in some areas but its only 1 day, THE DAY, it will only happen once so if it will cost more than anticipated, so be it.
hopefully we won't go broke with all the spending.

Re: wedding budget
I think we've estimated about $40-50k, which will be paid mostly by a combination of my family and his. We plan on paying for some of the misc. things, such as rings, favors, officiant, and HM.
We had envisioned something medium-sized, at a vineyard, with people who know us well and see us pretty regularly and will be excited to see us get married and not just to attend the party. Luckily our families agree -- FH's stepmother even said she was going to refrain from inviting their friends because she knows we want something somewhat intimate (plus, in her social scene, if she invites one or two couples she would have to invite them all, and that's dozens of people!)
So, for us it's a combo of keeping it small-ish, but we will still splurge on some things.

Re: wedding budget
Are wedding budget is around $25k, but that is not including presents for Bridal party, Honeymoon, My dress and other little wedding necessities I have to say that if are parents weren't helping, I would probably not be spending as much.

Re: wedding budget
We set a budget of 30K & we have stuck to it...We are paying for everything ourselves & buying a house...We didn't want to spend too much more for only that one day....Truthfully we are having a average size wedding...I was very frugal when planning so that I was able to splurge on the important things
