wedding budget

Hey girls,

Just sitting here going over our wedding budget and having a mini heart attack. Its crazy how expensive a wedding can be =/

How do you figure out how much your venue will most likely end up costing? Like for example, we are paying $94 PP however i know theirs tax and gratuity... how much will we really end up paying per person?

do you guys ever get scared you're not really going to save up as much as you need for the wedding? it makes me so scared

I have mini heart attacks all the time! Apparently we don't believe in sticking to our budget and just keep spending like its nothing I am going to HATE my bills after this wedding!

I think to figure out the actual price p/p its the amount p/p x 20% (gratuity/service charge) x tax. I would've done it for you, but I am terrible at math! lol

they should have told you about the final per person cost... if not you can always call and ask

I lose sleep over this...we're trying just to save as much as we possibly can and I'm trying to save on everything else...we're splurging on the RH so all other vendors have to watch what we spend...also going to do a lot of DIY to save money.

Thank you for your help on the 20% i think in the end we will wind up spending $125 pp... give or take.

We decided to go with a venue that was on the less expensive side (luckily we found the Riviera which we LOVE so it wasn't really a compromise) but then we kinda splurged on photos and flowers. Decor is a really big thing to me. I really want to create this beautiful southern vintage look... but its all so expensive. ug. its a hard line to draw creating the exact look you want but then keeping budget and scrapping by the entire year (or in our case 2 years) before the wedding.

On the bright side with putting all this money in savings i feel like were gonna feel like were rich after the wedding when we dont have to put so much money into savings every month haha

Re: wedding budget

crashing...
the venue can give you the final price per person but typically it is the $94 plus tax (which if you are in long island should be something like 8.375 %) plus 20% gratuity
So you are looking at $123 per person (although my tax rate may not be 100% accurate).
BUT that does not include all of your other gratuities...they say you tip 3-5 dollars per person to the maitre'd, you tip your bridal attendant, and possibly even the valet...
it all adds up really quickly

I honestly don't think I can afford my wedding and that is not even including the honeymoon. I freak out like everyday!

Re: wedding budget

I had my BM @ the RH do the final exact numbers with tax and grat so I wouldnt be off by a penny. We know the total cost for the guarantee number and are able to accommodate that easily. The issue will be if too many additional people decide to say yes. Ugh.

Whether you add the tax or service charge fist it comes out to the same cost. Your cost pp should be about $124.15.

And yes I totally understand your feelings. I am always fearing that we will somehow not have enough money to pay for everything! So stressful!

Re: wedding budget

When we were in the hall we had them calculate the total cost then and there before we even booked. I didn't trust myself doing the math, also that way you get it in writing so there aren't any surprised.

As much as I only recently started relaxing alil bit thinking we may actually pull this off I still freak out. But I'm doing ALOT almost everything myself so that is helping with the costs too.

Re: wedding budget

When we booked our hall, on our pricing quote they added in the tax and 20% gratuity for us so we knew what the final number would be per person. And we compared that to other numbers and it was lower considering everything we were going to get with that price. But, I do have panic attacks any time I think about how much the wedding will cost and then trying to add a honeymoon to that! I'm always afraid that we won't have enough money saved since we've never been really good at that before OR we'll completely blow through out budget and won't be able to afford a honeymoon! I never really understood why some of my other friends went on anxiety meds while planning their weddings...now I do! Cause saving and budgeting will drive a person cRaZy!

This is what we did. We could not possibly pay (after tax and gratuity) more than we are already spending. It's a BIG difference when you add them in...

I know what you all mean, its crazy how when you first hear that the venue is for example $80pp you're thinking omg that's great, but then you add the tax, gratuity and tips and you wanna fall off your chair
