I think both weinstock and collette have been on food tv? Collette on the competition, but sylvia I recall too.... can't remember when though![]()
(Can you tell which channel is always on my TV?)![]()
Yeah colette peters is the one who won the wedding cake competition on the food network...Sylvia is a big wedding cake designer, and has done cakes for many celebrities. There is a collette foley who does cakes but i personally have never seen her on the food network so not sure, its possible she was on it too.
Here is collette peters site and she even has the cake on there that she won with at the wedding cake competition on food network.

I just wasn't sure who everybody was talking about, i was really confused...I have heard of both peters and foley, but then the food network came up so I wasn't sure, i thought maybe foley was on and i just didn't see it.

I am confused, because someone also mentioned her being on the food network, and if its the person who won the wedding cake competition then that is colette peters, she has also been on oprah and has done alot of celebrity wedding cakes, does cakes for Tiffany windows displays, and does cakes for big celebrity events.
That is who i want to get my cake from, colette peters...Her price is $8-12 a slice, depending on how difficult the design of the cake is.
I will tell you one thing though, for my e-party i was going to get a fondant cake but changed my mind don't want it to be too much like the wedding, plus for the wedding cake i am willing to spend alot of money but not for the e-party. I seriously called just about every place in manhattan, long island, some places in brooklyn. I called over 50 bakeries to find out their price. The average price is $6-7 a slice. It is very hard to find a fondant cake for under $6 a slice, but i did find like 2 or 3 bakeries in suffolk county that did it for $4.25 a slice and another for $5 a slice.
what you can do to save money though is this: you get a fondant cake, you can make just one of the layers real cake, the one you will cut at the wedding...The rest will be a model meaning it is all done up the same but there is no real cake inside...The rest of the cake you get from them will be sheet cake they keep in the back and just serve it to your guests. This will save alot of money. Some bakers can also use buttercream to make some of those designs but you need a good one, they do come out good but personally i dont think as smooth as fondant.
If you want any other info on any of this you can fm me anytime.
I just want to mention that not everyone will do the 'fake' cake things. The woman we are using, Collette Foley, does not do this. She basically said that it's the decoration on the cake that makes it expensive, so not having a real cake inside and having the outside match will still make the cake very expensive.
What we are doing, and not to save money (but just because we are having a cake made not by our RH in additon to the full viennese hour), is we're having the cake sliced more thinly to feed more people.... the cake is something that's important to us, but on the other hand, we don't want to spend a crazy amount of money for something that no one eats because they're so full from the viennese. so we'll just have thinner slices so that everyone (hopefully) will have a taste for good luck!
ALSO, just make sure to taste the fondant before you order a cake with it! we LOVED the look, but we weren't impressed with the taste... even from a high quality baker.
