Wedding cake disaster -Please Advice!!!!

Original post by nycbridetobe

I got married last week and most of it was great. Sadly, my wedding cake was a complete disaster. My wedding hall provided the cake and sadly I agreed to it. Worst mistake of my life. I met with the cake vendor the wedding hall sent me to. We decided on the flavor, and were charged extra money for every little thing we wanted ( basically the cake was covered if it was plain white cake). I added details, changed the flavor and made it look presentable. On the day of the wedding, the cake arrives, I walked into the hall and literally cried. The cake looked awful! It did not have any of the designs I wanted, the items I paid extra for were not even on the cake and worst of all the flavor was completely wrong! Not one part of the cake was done right. I called the bakery the very next day and I was completely ignored. I sent an email and no response. If brides can give me suggestions as to what can be done with this issue I would greatly appreciate it!

Continue to contact the bakery and RH. I dont know if there is much they can do about it now but you can at least let them know you will be telling other brides.

This is probably about the only thing can be done at this point. That being said, I used the cake that was included from WM, got free upgrades and it was delicious (and I am extremely critical about food). But then again my wedding was 3 years ago so things may have changed since then. Sorry to hear that you were disappointed :(

I am SO sorry to heaar you were so disappointed with your cake
I hope the rest of your day was beautiful.
I just got married at WM and used Francescos. They were very friendly during my consultation and I paid 200.00 for extra designs. A few days before my wedding I got a rude phone call from the owner saying they never received my payment.....I assured him I mailed them a check a month ago and that I would call my bank to provide proof. I was freaking out bc I did not want to write them another check and and was ticked off how rude he sounded on the phone...( i got this phone call right after finding out my dj was unavailable for my wedding too lol)
They never called me back to assure me of the payment so i had to keep calling and finally got ahold of the manager and he said he found my payment and just blew me off. never apologized for the mistake. whatever.

I think the cake looked really pretty. i got a lot of compliments. I didnt think it was the best cake ive ever tasted..not gross, but not anything to rave about..

For future WM brides, I would say its worth it to shop around for different bakeries with better reviews and Price out the differences.

agh my pics are too big to attach. fm if anyone would like to see pic of cake

Wedding cake disaster -Please Advice!!!!

Can I just say that after reading all this I am so nervous about using this bakery for my wedding...and I have used them on MANY, MANY occasions for other holidays and events! I am definitely going to see what my other options are!

I used Francescos for my wedding because it was in my CB package. The cake was good, the design was basically what I asked for. I did not pay additional for anything so maybe that is why. They did get the flavor wrong, but apparently CB sent them the wrong flavor, so I can not hold the bakery accountable for that.

Wedding cake disaster -Please Advice!!!!

My hall uses the same bakery as well. Originally we were going to go with them because I didn't want to spend the extra money. We decided to get our engagement party cake from them to see what flavor we like. I had one bite of the cake and it was stale. I asked my bridal party to tell me honestly what they thought of the cake and no one liked it. At that point I realized I needed to find someone else and decided to go with The Sugar Chic.
I would say let your RH know and you can keep trying the bakery but at this point since they have been paid I don't think they will do much.

Hey brides...Update......

So I spoke to the bakery and got nowhere. The person I spoke to insisted it was red velvet and he said it might have looked like chocolate because their red velvet is dark!!! Lol .....then he insisted they put silver drage on it.... I sent him a picture of the cake with not a single drage ( for which I was charged 75 dollars!).... I finally emailed the wedding hall and they helped me get the money back :).....

So stay away from the bakery but definitely go with westbury manor for your wedding ;)

Oh no I was going to go with their cake WM gives so many other desserts I didn't think it mattered that much but maybe I'll see what they will do if I tell them I'm not using their cake.

She's legit. She has other posts from back to 2011 about florists and photographers

My friend got married there and did not love the in-house bakery. They ended up going elsewhere!!

I spoke to several people who got the cake there and they were all unhappy with it! If I have read reviews first, I would have spent extra money and gotten a decent cake instead of the cheap cake they gave me that I could have bought at a supermarket.

That's probably where they got their cake!
