Wedding cake tradition

Wedding cake tradition

Hello everyone,
I am on 05 bride, and feel silly asking this question but I have no idea.

Our 2nd anniversary is coming up and we saved the top tier of our wedding cake to eat on our first anniversary. However, I was pregnant at the time and didn't want to take any chances on eating something that might have bacteria (I was very freaked out about getting sick while I was pregnant). So, our cake is still in our freezer. It is our anniversary next week, and here are my questions:

1. Is a 2 year old cake TOO old?

2. Is it risky to eat since I am breastfeeding?

3. How in the world do I thaw and prepare such a thing???

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm.. I would stick it in the fridge and see how it looks/smeels once its defrosted.

Oh and have DH taste it first hahahaha

Definately take it out & see what it smells & looks like after it is defrosted. I can't see how it would go bad, but it might be very dry!!

Happy Anniversary!!!

I would just throw it out and get a new cake to celebrate your anniversary.

If it's been in the freezer the whole time then it really should be OK. Take it out a few days before your anniversary and put it in the fridge to defrost. Like the other ladies have said, I'd smell it before tasting it just to be sure. And having DH try it first is a good idea!!

Good luck!!

Re: Wedding cake tradition- Update

Thanks for all of your advice.
I bought a small chocolate cake so if the wedding cake was a fiasco, we'd still have something sweet.

Well, I was nervous, but it was delicious!!! I made my husband taste it first, and he was trying to tell me I wouldn't like it, only so that he could have it to himself. I thought it would maybe be edible, I didn't dream it would taste so good! Go Watermill!
