I'm just going to go with RH cake.
I don't need another expense to add on. If you don't like cake then I will have my chocolate fountain!

Re: Wedding Cakes
I am going with the one the RH gives us. I was at first a little weery that maybe it was going to look 80's-ish and dated lol b/c it has all the roping and stuff like your parents cake might have had back in the day. I asked them if they could just give it a smooth finish, and they told me yes! I was so happy. So now I am just giong to find things online or make them myself, decorations for the cake. I used to bake so I have some ideas for decorations that I may want to use and maybe they can just add them to the cake instead of me having them charge me for all of the stuff.

Wm uses Erga bakery in Bethpage...you can call them directly to make any upgrades like using fondant which they told me would be about $250

Re: Wedding Cakes
To me, no cake is bad cake, hahaha. There are 2 bakeries our places gives us and we can pick any cake from those 2 bakeries. I wouldn't want to pay more if they're offering to pay these places for us...and as long as you do a cake tasting, I'm sure it'll be fine.

I am going with the RH - they don't make it a bakery does so it has to be good.
I am not paying more money anyway - i don't like cake!

Re: Wedding Cakes
most places contract with a bakery. i am most likely taking the free one. if i have to pay extra for exactly what i want...i will do that. but i have to admit, i dont care too much about how it tastes...just how it looks. I cant remember the last time I ate the wedding cake. If I do...i'm usually too drunk to remember.

I love her cakes. I wish I could afford for everyone to have one of the mini cakes they show on her web site!

Re: Wedding Cakes
We had the RH cake (they use Audrey's Bakery), but we upgraded to a different design. We went to a vendor showcase and tasted the cakes and they were delicious so I was able to worry about one less thing. If you're unsure, go to a tasting first and ask other brides and people who have gone to weddings at WM for their honest opinions of their cakes.

Re: Wedding Cakes
we upgraded to a fondant cake. Because of their contract with the bakery we got a cake that's normally worth over $1000 for only about $200 more, so in that case it was a good value.

Re: Wedding Cakes
the cake our RH includes is ordered at a really amazing local bakery. it's actually a choice of 2.
We used the cake that our RH provided and that was a big mistake. Our hall uses Dortoni's, and while I know they are super popular on LI, my cake was absolutely disgusting. It didn't look like the picture I provided, the cake was dry, the filling was gross, and the icing tasted like toothpaste (and no, it wasn't fondant). I wish I'd gone with my favorite bakery here, I just didn't feel like shelling out the extra $$.
