Wedding Coordinator, yay or nay?

Wedding Coordinator, yay or nay?

I keep watching the days go by and it doesn't seem like I am making enough progress on our wedding...My fiance and I own a business together and it takes up ALOT of our time, but I am really looking forward to planning the wedding!

Is anyone using a wedding coordinator? I am starting to think that I need some help. I know pretty much what I want so its not the idea part, but the vendor recommendations, and just feeling good about my choices, and also the comparison shopping, sticking to a timeline...

Is that what they do? Has anyone found it helpful or not helpful? I signed in here today and it says I have 200 days until the wedding and that kind of freaked me out! So far I have the hall, officiants, my dress, and a really expensive proposal for flowers...

My budget would allow about 2-3,000 for this. Is that in the ballpark?

Thanks everyone for any help!

I am using Francesca from Dazzling Affairs...and I cant say enough about her really. I had nothing done a few weeks ago and she has gotten my butt in gear and taken care of alot of the things I just dont have the time to do and dont know how to do! I am in SC and my wedding is in NY! I didnt want a coordinator but I am glad that I have one now, and my wedding is 91/2 months away. If that is your budget I think you will be fine...call soem of them and ask-doesnt hurt to find out!

I'm one of those anal retentive super organized brides. I started wedding planning with a schedule of when each vendor had to be booked etc. I used this site to gather recommendations as to which ones I should see, and went out and did it. Then I realized with all the time and effort I was putting into the planning I wanted someone for the day of to make sure things came off without a hitch. So, I hired Francesca from Dazzling Affairs to be my Day of Coordinator. Let me tell you, she has been sooooooo much more than that. I thought I had things under control and could handle it all. Maybe I could have, but she has made my life sooooo much easier, and I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders the day I signed that contract.

She also does full scale wedding planning or something in between full scale and Day of Coordination. She is well within your budget.

I'm also super organized, however I really don't feel it's necessary to have a wedding coordinator. I also feel less stressed if I do things myself, and really enjoy mindless projects, etc- so I am not the type to hire someone else to do it for me anyway. I've heard a lot of girls say it de-stresses them though

I don't need a bridal planner but anyone know how much it is to hire someone just for the day of your wedding to make sure everything goes smooth?

I dont think someone needs a wedding planner. you can definitely do things yourself.

Needing one??? No, i dont think too many people NEED to have a wedding planner or even a DOC but does it make life easier! ABSOLUTELY! We had a DOC-Rosalie and she was a DOC and much more than that...She was fantastic and really made things less stressful... I was an organized bride, but there are some things you dont want to be worried about the day of your wedding and I didnt want my mother or bridal party to worry either...

PLus, a bridal attendant is only there during the reception-DOC is there throughout the entire day...she was the first person with me and the last to leave...
I remember working in catering and some bridal attendants were good some were not so good-I remember I had to fill in once and I was 17-Had no clue what the heck I was doing....its luck of the draw

I say..yay

It really depends on how you are organized, the size of your wedding, how many DYI you plan on doing, and really how much you want to handle or have time.

There is not right answer on this one.

I did not need one but 'things' get busy and it is hard sometimes to manage.

I worked full time, I go to school part time, I got 2 new puppies and I had to organize my OOT to stay at my house the week before the wedding.

If you can't handle it or don't want to, then hire one.

Re: Wedding Coordinator, yay or nay?

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to look into one. Just thinking about wedding things getting done while I am sitting at work gives me a sense of relief!

It's virtually impossible for me to do any wedding stuff whatsoever on a weekday during business hours, and then on the weekends we still do stuff for work, then there are family obligations, new puppy, and a little time left over to enjoy each other. So I find myself staying up at night when no one is open researching on the Internet and watching tivo'd episodes of 'Whose wedding is it anyway'. LOL

So...I guess the next question is, does anyone want to recommend one? So far I am definitely going to give Francesca a call!

We went with 'nay'

It just wasn't necessary for us. I have watched enough movies where there is one to realize that I was in no way throwing a wedding large enough to need it.

but that's just me!

I'm just getting a DOC so I don't need to worry about all the little crap like 'must take photos' and setting up my menu cardds, etc. That way-- she'll do all of that stuff and I don't have to either do it myself or ask someone in my family/friends to do it for me. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use Rosalie or Laurie from LA Productions. I'm going to search through reviews and compare pricing and make my decision.

ETA: I actually found Christine from searching on here and booked her-- so happy!!

In your situation, I would definitely hire a coordinator...The money is definitely worth the peace of mind you get knowing you have someone helping that has your interestest in mind....I'm using Rosalie as my DOC and she's worth every penny..she's a vendor on here but if you want her contact info let me know

I had Rosalie and she was there for me 100%. I didn't have to worry about a darn thing on my wedding day except to ENJOY IT. It was the best money I spent.....totally worth it.
