I did a quick research out of curiosity to see on average on much weddings cost. Apparently the national average is no where near what I think is typical for Long Islanders' weddings.
How many guests do you have & how much is your wedding adding up to be considering all the expenses for the day of the wedding?. Honeymoon, bachelor / bachelorette parties & etc would be excluded.

Re: Wedding Cost
Including honeymoon i'm very close to meeting my budget perfectly which is 30,000. This is for about 150 guests. I'm a big DIY bride, which i feel i have saved because of this

Re: Wedding Cost
a typical LI wedding is around 40k, if you have around 100 people typical is probably around 30k, but most people on long island do not have that little........and it's sooo easy to go over both those prices, everything is expensive!! i'd say those #'s are sticking to a budget.

Re: Wedding Cost
Planning a wedding in long island cost as much as paying for a year at a private college

Re: Wedding Cost
We kept ours on a tight budget. I was NOT going into debt for a wedding
Including RD, dress, invites, etc for 130 we should be around $25000

We tried doing the same ... we are looking at around the same figure too

Re: Wedding Cost
By eliminating a wedding party, we definitely saved!
We could have spent less on invites and the dress
The day wedding helped, and we are having a 4 hour reception instead of a five hour reception. Which then impacted photog cost, DJ, car, and RH price. Honestly, we are usually ready to leave wedding before they are over anyway!

Re: Wedding Cost
we didn't really have a budget because we were not sure how much every costs...after booking several vendors and figuring out the cost looks like out total is around 70k

Re: Wedding Cost
Our budget was 30K and suprisingly we are very close! Considering our RH is 24K alone, thats a miracle!

Re: Wedding Cost
Umm...excluding the honeymoon, for a Sunday night in June, our wedding is going to come in the $55-60K range.
I don't even think we're doing anything too crazy. We have a DJ, not a band, we aren't doing viennese, no big extras. We kind of sunk it for ourselves by booking a hall that's $30,000 on it's own for 180 people.
ETA: If you back out the RD cost, it's a little less. I budgeted $2500 for my RD but I don't think it's going to cost that much. My budget also includes a few extras, like CH music, which we're not going to add, but excludes some extras I paid for along the way like the channa plaque, bells, baskets, etc

Re: Wedding Cost
$45K is our budget and we're still on track. however, our HM alone is $20K so we will have spent way more than we should have at the end of the day
