Re: wedding costs?

My parents are paying for 80% of the wedding (reception & wedding gown).

We're paying the other 20%.

FILs are taking care of the rehearsal dinner.

Re: wedding costs?

My stepmother and dad paid for:
-my gown, headpiece, veil, blusher, gloves, wrap
-invitations w/ stamps
-cake serving set
-ring pillow

My mom paid for my harpist at the ceremony

My brother and sister are hosting our RD- for 35 people as a wedding gift to us.

My stepmother and father are paying for their friends to be invited to the wedding since I do not know them very well and they were not on our guest list. It is about 10 people.

The rest has been Scott and I. My mother and stepmother also paid for and hosted my shower.

Re: wedding costs?

We've split the cost of everything (both receptions and the out-of-towners lunch) into thirds. Each set of parents is paying a third and we are paying a third.

Re: wedding costs?

We're doing it mostly ourselves. Put all of the deposits down ourselves, and have made the payment. My parents are handling the flowers and my gown...his parents are going to bail us out when we run out of money when the balance is due. LOL.

The more I talk about how much this weddings costs, the worse I feel about doing it!

Re: wedding costs?

We are paying for it ourselves and would have it no other way. It is just how we are.

My mom insisted on paying for my gown and veil and stuff (although I tried to argue and refuse...she wouldn't let me). I feel really bad because I know they don't have that kind of money.

FI parents want to pay for the rehearsal dinner. They have enough money so I didn't argue that plus it give them something to plan and take part in the wedding!

Re: wedding costs?

FH and I are paying for 100%.. my dad says that he'll help out, but I won't hold my breath (I've been on my own for a very long time and as much as I love my parents, money is a b*tch and I'd rather do what I have to to pay for it myself rather than hearing what he/she did for me), the only thing they are DEF paying for that I know of are my dress and accessories to go along with such and my shower...

FMIL will be helping us out greatly.. she and fh's dad will be paying for the RD.. Fh's mom has openly stressed to us that she will do what she can to help us.. so I'm greatful..

but to be honest regardless of who does/pays for what, fh and I are looking at this as though we're paying all for it ourselves...

Re: wedding costs?

My father says that he is going to pay 1/3 of the reception costs. I am not banking on the money because he has disappointed me before. His wife (not my mother) also keeps pointing out how they did not have a big wedding (they were married at his house). I will take whatever my dad gives me because I deserve it. This man still owes me over $15,000 in back child support that I will never see.

Re: wedding costs?

All ourselves, we have received engagment gifts (didn't have a party) but I would have to say the gifts added up to about $3,500.00 which we used for payments to the hall. That is all we are working for right now ... no extra payments made to C/C or mortgage companies! It hurts!!

Re: wedding costs?

We are paying for almost everything ourselves !!!
My sister is paying for my dress & accessories,
my other sis is paying for my photography (that's a biggie)
My dad so far has not mentioned anything about paying, but then again, he just found out a few weeks ago. We'll see, my sis is saying she will get him to give me some based on the fact that my Mom(dec'd) would have.

Re: wedding costs?

My father is paying for my entire wedding. My mother is paying for a bruch the morning after. FH and I are paying for the honeymoon, our rings, his attire and some other little things (like mine and BM make-up, hair, etc.) FH's family is not paying for anything except their attire and travel expenses.
