What are some things that you ladies have cut back on?
For example i decided im not doing the slipper basket, not doing a candy bar, not having a venetian hour, thinking about not upgrading the bar.

I'm not doing lots of things: no slipper baskets, no bathroom baskets, not upgrading the dj to have all the bells and whistles, etc. you have to because honestly, we have a house, and I don't want to go broke!!

I haven't cut back anything...because lots of the things you girls are naming- slipper baskets/candy bars/venetian hour/cry packs....were never on my list.
I had never heard of these things before LIW and enjoyed myself at weddings without them...95% of my guests have never heard of LIW and wont miss it. The food, the dancing, the drinks- that's usually what people rave about.

Totally agree with you and most of your guests dont even realize that you didn't do these things. Whats the point of going broke over these things when the guests dont care.Im not having a bathroom basket either. I'm also thinking about no disposable cameras on each table...lol

a bunch of our married friends told us not to bother with the table cameras... they were expensive to develope and the pics were terrible. i would just set up a site that your friends and family can upload thier digital pictures to.

That's a great idea..thanks . I noticed at another wedding i went to ppl were taking foolish pictures anyway so its really not worth it.

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
The closer we got to our date the more we cut back. I didn't do bathroom baskets, or hotel baskets. No-1 misses these things, trust me. Everyone is so busy dancing and eating no-1 is worried if you have a lotion or tide stick in the bathroom.

ITA I am really not cutting back on anything because I wasn't doing any of those things to begin with either (slipper basket, candy bar, VH, out of town bags, etc.)
One thing I think I am cutting back on is the card box. I will improvise with something else that costs less.

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
There is not much to cut back because I wasn't doing a lot of extra stuff in the first place. Pretty much besides the DJ, Florist, Photo/video and RH food and drinks, I am doing a bathroom basket with sample sizes from Target and a basket FH found for a few dollars. I have always liked having a basket in the ladies room at weddings, and I have always seen women using the items in there. The RH is even giving us table numbers.

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
Our biggest cut back was limos. We are only having one regular white stretch limo to take us to the church/reception hall. The guys will be dropped off first, then it will return to pick up me and my girls. The bridal party is then going to go with their dates to the reception hall and FH and I will go alone in the limo. This is saving us a TON of $$$$$$$$$.

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
We're not doing anything fancy with the DJ, nor were we ever planning to do slipper baskets (what are those, anyway?), bathroom baskets, or a Venetian hour. It's ceremony, CH, dinner/reception. Oh, and no video or table cameras--I've already set up a website for people to upload their photos onto. Plus, you know that people will post pictures on Facebook, too!!!

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
I am just really getting going on planning so I haven't had to cut anything out yet but I agree the disposable cameras are a waste, its a fortune to get developed and you get a hundred pics of your cake and alot of drunken pics. Plus now so many people have digital cameras now, I think the wedding website idea is great! Also the venetian is a toss up for me, I think too much dessert keeps people off the dance floor and loses the party continuing... but that just may be me. I would rather have a cocktail and dance!

Re: Wedding cutbacks?
Where do I start! I also have a house and 2 kids. Here goes: -Changed my date to a sunday afternoon -No limos -Used CB officiant (theres no fee and I really like him) -Bought a dress on sale -Buying invite kits and printing them at home -I went to a whole sale flower distributer (they're sending me a quote tonight) -Cutting my guest list from 195 to 150 (expecting some not to show)
I come from a large hispanic family, nobody has ever heard of slipper basket or bathroom basket...they just want good food and great music! But I am going to do the slipper basket b/c I always bring flip flops with me to parties and change into them when my feet hurt so I think its a fantastic idea.
