It is close to christmas, and it may be hard for people who are traveling to get to your wedding, but it's YOUR wedding. Those who you really want there will be there.
I agree with Shmar. If ppl really want to be their they will come no matter what. My friends sister had her wedding on the 23rd and it was a blast. Depends on the ppl. If it's next year, give ppl a heads up alil more than 6 months in advance to let them know...

Re: Wedding Date
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea. A lot of people work full time and they need that weekend to get all the last minute stuff done. If I had a wedding to go to this weekend, I would have been FREAKING out....that's my own fault though b/c I'm a major procrastinator. LOL Keep in mind that if you have any out of town guests, they will have to rush home for xmas eve. I don't know...I think it's cutting it too close.

Re: Wedding Date
We just went to a wedding on Dec 22. It was very inconvient, between getting things ready for the holiday and it was in queens. It was the last thing I wanted to be doing the Friday before xmas. But if that is the date that you want the people that really matter the most to you will be there. As much as we did not want to go we went and it was a lovely wedding with a xmas theme to it.

Re: Wedding Date
In all honesty, I was wrapping gifts this past Friday and thinking how hectic it is a few days before Christmas and thought to myself if someone I knew was getting married this day, would I go b/c it is such a hectic time of year. I would probably feel bad saying no to the response (depending on who it is) but in the end, I would say yes and just b*tch and moan about it being on that date and deep down inside, I probably would not want to go. That is just my opinion and I wanted to be honest with you. I hope you are not offended by me being so honest. That's just a real crazy time of year for some people.

I feel the same way! As much as I complained and b*tched about it we went. It was my FH's cousin so we went. If it was a family friend I don't think that we would have went.

No matter what date you pick, someone will have something to say about it.
personally, I wouldn't pick it because we have SO many OOT guests and traveling is a nightmare that time of year. Also, many people find finances tight this time of year, too, and going to a wedding (especially out of town) might be a financial burden for some.
It is more expensive for OOT guests to travel over the holidays (and busier and less pleasant as well) and that some people may have to choose between being closer to their family or going to your wedding around Christmas... Also, it's a tight time of year financially for many people -- and some people for many reasons may not want to travel that close to the holiday...
However, some people won't come no matter what day you choose and the people who really want to be there will be there no matter what, even if it's Christmas day at 2AM in Alaska.
I agree, I have a lot of OOT guests. Also, the BM's will have to pay for the dresses, mens tuxes, gifts, etc. that gets pricey. And as much notice as you MAY give people, they never plan accordingly. JMO
