so my FH and I are very open to dates for our 2013 wedding, but of course do like prime season (May to Oct)....i think we narrowed it down to either sat june 1 or sat oct 12 (columbus day weekend)....anybody with any input...im afraid of oct being too cold by then and also hurricane season....but i'm also nervous june may be on the verge of too humid and i don't cope well with that...may seems rainy a lot...july and august are wayyy to hot, september is nice but we have some family away at college....ohhh the choicesss

Re: Wedding Date
Im getting married in Oct 2013. I dont think it will be too cold by then. The 12th is actually only about 3 wks after fall officially starts. Ive looked up average temps and its in the 60s. Oct I dont think you really have to worry about hurricanes here (fingers crossed). I chose Oct for all the above reasons plus its least likely to have rain like in the spring/summer months. I also chose it bcuz I dont want it to be too hot. I dont want to be sweating my makeup off or being irritated bcuz im hot. Not fun lol...
Obviously I vote for Oct lol.. But whichever month u decide to go with im sure will be great for u. Good luck!

Re: Wedding Date
i feel the same way you do about october...do you feel like u might miss out on better scenery for pictures in october versus june? i'm afraid besides the leaves changing, there really aren't any flowers? But you're right, i like october....

Re: Wedding Date
Im not worried about scenary, esp in my reception hall (Swan Club). My date is onky 2 wks after summer officially ends. They told me it is even more gorgeous at that time bcuz the flowers have had all summer to bloom. So wherever u choose im sure there shouldnt be any worries. You can also ask to be sure. My RH also told me to come by around mywedding date so I can see how it looks in Oct.
One thing to take into consideration is there is less sunlight. I looked it up for my date and the sun sets about 6:30pm. So depending on the time of your ceremony u could risk losing sunlight for pix. Im having a evening ceremony. FH and I plan to do a first view and see each other at the hotel we get ready at for pix. Then we'll also take pix at our RH b4 the ceremony.
What time do u want to have your ceremony? Are you getting married at a church or RH?

Re: Wedding Date
I love the hot weather, so I picked May- I got a prime month but on a holiday weekend so saved
I think October would be great! It's really nice weather, you have less chance of rain, but the sun does set earlier and it can get pretty chilly at night.
Good luck!!

Re: Wedding Date
Your weather in early June could go either way. Could be a rainy spring day.. could be one of those 95 degree 'Where did that come from' kinda days. I personally like June over October..clearly I'm biased.
Do you have any thoughts on a theme or color scheme for your wedding?

Re: Wedding Date
i'm going to bet getting married in a church...likely something around noon or 1....i want a somewhat larger break between the church and the start of cocktail hour so that i can get all my pictures in and then actually attempt to enjoy my wedding/food hahaha...so maybe a 5 or 6 cocktail start....
theme wise i always thought black and white was so classy looking...but my FH and his family sort of indicated they thought having black at a wedding was bad luck...i don't agree, but i figured i would need a pop of some color...so i thought about a bright red and bright pink pop...all in all it will probably be something along the lines of mostly white with pops of black, bright pink and bright red...
ugh...i love wedding planning, but i am the worst decision maker...can't decide on a hall or a date...ahhh

Re: Wedding Date
Since your getting married at a church and so early in the afternoon u def wont have to worry about sun light then if u choose Oct. Having the big gap btwn ceremony and RH will give u plenty of time to take all tbe pix u want.
Im getting married at my RH so I wont have a gap which is another reason why we're taking pix before. Also because I want to enjoy my CH! The wedding is going to fly by. I dont want to spend large portions of it taking pix.
If you want black and white then go for it. Its not bad luck! Lol I think thecpops of red and pink would look really nice!
Good luck with your decision making! Lol

Re: Wedding Date
June 1st is never super hot. (usually) I mean, it's definitely warm but summer hasn't even hit yet. October will be much more mild (light jacket needed) but still beautiful. October will be more of that fall, apple cider, type feeling where June will be the start of summer, beachy and bright colors. Depends what you want.

Re: Wedding Date
i guess i felt that way when i walked into the royalton...but is it weird when i went back a second time i didn't have the same feeling....i mean i still really liked it, but it didn't feel like the first time i walked in...also, i was a litttttle disappointed the second time around because they had a wedding that day and the gardens in the back were not looking as sharp as they should have been....and if it was my day i would have been pissed....
and then my mother who plays devils advocate on everything convinced me to reconsider deseversky as well...which is also gorgeous but its either mansion style or sit down separate from dancing...

Re: Wedding Date
I also felt that way. FH and I were ready to book one RH. We had a food tasting but b4 we had scheduled 3 RH appts 1st. These were going to be the last places we looked at as we had already looked at about 11 places already. Swan Club was the 1st and we instantly fell in love. I knew it right then it would be the place but I drove by the other places but never even went in bcuz I knew instantly they wouldn't compare. I went to the food tasting and looking at the place a 2nd time it just wasn't the same so i'm glad we never booked. Going back to Swan Club I fell in love with it even more the 2nd time around. So, just keep looking if you aren't completely satisfied. There's so many places out there. I'm sure once you've seen all you wanted to see you will the know the right place for you.

Re: Wedding Date
i guess it's sort of silly but i can't break my thinking is that my cousin had the beach wedding in the family (not that i want one), my other cousin had her wedding at a vineyard...i sort of felt like i wanted to do a different theme and stick with mansion style...my family has given me a very generous budget to work with, however when the mansion style weddings run on average 180pp for a sat night in peak season and i have about 200 guests, i've pretty much spent the entire budget on just the reception, leaving all the other expenses to me and FH...and the one thing i've always wanted to do was honeymoon is tahiti which is ridiculously expensive (5-6k pp)...so i'm looking at another like 24K out of our pocket...and we're saving for a house...i feel so stressed

Ooooo mansion wedding in October sounds great. I think a fall theme would go very nicely with that
You might be able to find a better deal on Tahiti if you keep looking.
