wedding day advice

wedding day advice

i really had the best wedding day ever. nothing went wrong, at least nothing that i noticed.

so my advice to future brides....i had nothing to drink at all. save the champagne from the toast and a little on the ride to the church. i had a blast at my reception and i could remember everything.

i was very calm in the am....i was excited and anxious, but not stressed.

add your advice...hope this helps

SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE! I know, easier said than done...but trust me, it's one of the best things you can do for yourself!

The night before, I went to bed around midnight and was so anxious all night long that I was waking up practically every hour hoping it was morning already! I finally got up at about 6:30am but by noon I was exhausted and had to take a 15 minute power nap on the couch!

Take a sleeping aid if you're too giddy, but definitely get your 8 hours cause it's a long day and you'll need all of your energy!

Have some champagne before you go down the aisle! Seriously, a little helped to ease my nerves and I felt much more relaxed at the ceremony.

Re-apply lipstick.

I have some photos from later on in the night where I don't have any lipstick on. (Probably as a result of kissing it all off on my new hubby!!)

Try to get the 'extras' done in advance, like the menus, favors, placecards, etc. I was so stressed the week before the wedding b/c I left everything to the last minute!

Re: wedding day advice

Thanks for sharing ladies. Useful info.

I think I'll be taking TWO Tylenol PM's the night before just to ensure that I wake up refreshed and ready to go.

Re: wedding day advice

don't get overly wrapped up in what other people will think. You're inviting those closest to you - so let yourself relax and just enjoy the day....just think of it as a big party.

Stuff will go wrong - and if you can roll with it - it won't ruin your day.

Bottom line - if you're having fun, so will your guests.

I'll be doing that same exact thing - so did FH - we both want to remember everything!

Re: wedding day advice

My best advice is to live in the moment. Do what comes natural, say what comes to your mind, watch everything going around - just enjoy your day.

We had a huge wedding and one thing we knew was that we couldnt do a formal go-around. So we caught up with everyone at different times and it worked well. The only people who complained that I didn't get to them till later on was my Grandma's family...and they are 80+. Otherwise, I seriously got everyone either at Church, on the dance floor, etc. etc. and I'm happy about that.

The practical advice: always reapply lipstick, always kiss your hubbie, check your makeup and face, and dance your butt off.

Re: wedding day advice

1- If you're having a church wedding, get the kneelers not the chairs! They prevented some good pictures of us at the altar from looking great. Who wants ugly chairs in the pictures? No me- and i totally didn't think of this.

2-Esp for those who have a long train. Remind your MOH to fix your train THROUGHOUT the ENTIRE ceremony. I had 2 MOHs (2 sisters) so you'd think I'd be covered. But they totally dropped the ball on this because they were so emotional, etc.

3-Totally agree with the not leaving things to the lat minute. My programs were an 11th hour miracel because of this.

4- Get EVERYTHING in writing. My hair salon doubled their prices 1 week before the wedding, leaving me to have to choose another salon with no time for a trial. Because of this I don't think my hair looked as good as it should have/could have.
We didn't ask for a contract because we've been customer for over 10 years. We should have.

5. Keep as many people from 'stopping by' while youre getting ready as possible. My out of town family thought it would be great to stop by on their way to church. It was the worst, and made things chaotic and crazy and me even more anxious.

6. Tan line check- Even for winter brides! Check those tan lines with a camera - use your B&W function. While you couldn't see mine in person, in some of the black & white pictures you can tell a little bit because of varying shades of gray. It would have looked stupid for me to go tanning the last weekend in October and be orange the day of the wedding, but i litte make up could have evened me out just fine had i known.

7. Try not to cry walking down the aisle. I never thought I would but I did. And all of my pictures walking down I'm crying- not smiling! Obviously, easier said then done!
