wedding day makeup - do it yourself??? OPINIONS, PLEEEASE!!!

how many of you either did your makeup yourself on your wedding day, or plan to?
what do you think of this?
i know many people say that makeup tends to last so much longer when they get it done professionally...
i want my makeup to last but i'm in agony over my wedding day makeup. the more i think about my makeup trial, the more i dislike it. thing is, i don't want to book anyone else - all my girls got their makeup done by the same artist - it looked awesome and i am having her come to the house to do them. it's not that she did a bad job with me; it just isn't 'me'. and the more i look at my engagement pictures, the more i like them. i did my makeup myself and actually like how it looks in the pictures. so does my photographer.
i'm just worried... because even though i liked my trial, when i looked in the mirror - i'm just not happy with the way it photographed. and i want to be comfortable the day of. should i just do it myself? and why is it that it supposedly lasts that much longer, or stays so fresh, when the professionals do it?
ladies, i really need your help. i can't get the worrying over makeup out of my head

I had the same fears and that is why I went off of a recommendation to try bare minerals.....cost me nothing and I was so pleased with the products that I bought stuff, but used them for the day of.

I felt done, but not over done and still felt like me!

I just looked at your engagement pictures and your makeup does look great. I agree, I think it looks better than your makeup trial. Do what you feel you are more comfortable with. I know when I went for my makeup trial they put on more makeup than I'm used to and I made them take a lot off. I didn't like so much on.

Ok, I am in no way trying to be rude or insensitive, but imho I really don't like they way your makeup trial came out. You are an absolutely gorgeous girl (seriously - you could be a model!) and I think that the m-u artist did a pretty lousy job of bringing out your natural beauty. You look STUNNING in your e-pics - really really gorgeous.
I really don't mean to sound like a b!tch, I just don't want you to look at your pictures and be unhappy...

i'm not tryinig to be mean, but in my honesy opinion i think u look 'done' up in ur m/u trial compared to ur e-pics. u are one of the those girls who has natural beauty and doesn't need a lot of make up to look good. i say do it urself.

do it yourself if you feel more comfortable with it. visit the makeup counters at a dept store and look around for the best/longest lasting makeup and a makeup sealant - that way it'll stay on just as long but the look will be more you.

Your makeup in the e-pics looks great. In the Make-up trial you look not so happy and a bit 'washed out'. I agree that your makeup artist should have done a better job at bringing your beauty through.

I'd say you can do without the makeup person.

OK chicklet! The makeup dosen't last longer if you get it professionally done. The reason it lasts longer is bc they use airbrushing which gets into your pores better so it lasts longer. I did my own makeup for my first wedding and I did two of my friends for thier weddings and I used regular makeup. I got so many compliments it was amazing! If you want to use your own makeup I say do it! I have someone coming to my house to airbrush and put on the fake lashes- other than that i'm doing my own!

thank you girls, for your honesty. in my gut, i think i will look better if i do it myself. i love how my girls came out... and they did too, but i think that's because they don't usually wear makeup so don't feel great doing it themselves. i, however, have become a pro at doing my eye makeup, lol. i give makeup artists credit, because i can't do makeup on someone else. so i think i will do it myself... any recommendations for a foundation or blush that last great all day? i usually just use covergirl. and thanks again ladies.

And your photographer is completely right about your eyes - that was the first thing I noticed about your e-pics!
I don't have any reccs for blush, but for makeup/foundation, I'm partial to Clinique's stay true oil-free formula and Maybelline's dream matte mousse.

I don't tend to wear a whole lot of make up, so I was worried as well. I put myself in my MOH hands and she did a fabolous job with my make up, and the best part - it was free!

I agree w/ everyone else that your make-up does look better for your e-pics than your trial but I also think that because you're a bride and you should be pampered, it will be nice to have someone else do your make-up for you on your wedding day...what if you go for another trial and bring your e-pics and flat out tell them that's what they should do and see if she can make it look more like you want it?

I had my makeup done, and it does last alot longer. It was really nice to have my makeup and my bridal partys makeup done. Everyone looked great, and I could of never did my makeup as nice as a proffesional did.

I know you stated that the makeup artist did a good job with the girls but, you where not happy. I think the problem is the makeup artist. I feel you need to go for another trial, with another makeup vendor before you make a descion. You can have two sepreate makeup artist , one for you and one for your BM.
Go for another trial, and then decide.
Jaqueline Nicole just did my makeup for my friends wedding and it came out great.

Can you show your engagement pics to your makeup person and tell her you want it to look more like that?? I agree, I think I like your engagement pic makeup better, but I would not trust myself to do my own makeup on my wedding day. The makeup artists have professional stuff that will last longer and be applied professionally. I like the way my makeup looks on a daily basis, but it's a completely differnent ballgame with a wedding dress on. I think it does need to be 'glammed' up a bit for a wedding dress or it will pale in comparison to your dress. I hope that make sense, but one way or the other, I would DEFINITELY get your makeup professionally done....No question.
