Wedding Day Photos

Original post by KPetekie

Okay so I am trying to convince my future mother in law that a new trend is that people take photos with the groom before the wedding ceremony. She does not believe me and is adamant that no one ever does that. I don't want to be taking pictures during my party so I want them to be done earlier in the day. Has anyone here done that before/ is doing that/ knows someone who has done that?

We decided to see each other for the first time at Church. I walked down the aisle alone. The photographer took this amazing close-up picture of my husband's face the moment that he saw me. I just love that picture.

Afterwards, my husband said that when he saw me for the first time...'it just blew me away'. That was the exact reaction that I had hoped for.

We did ours before we went to the hall, which gave us more time to take pictures in the hall before people arrived. This gave us the entire cocktail hour to talk to our guests, and we still got the really nice shots we were hoping for when we booked our venue in the first place.

I can't recommend it enough - you get all day to hang out with the whole party, you have as much time as you want to allot to drive to wherever you want pics taken, and you don't miss any part of your wedding.

Re: Wedding Day Photos

did photos before the wedding SO MUCH easier. I mean DH was sick to his stomach before he saw me so it worked out best for him to get it all out of him before the ceremony. We all got to rest up and then go to the CH and meet our guests and say hello. NO strange time lapse between ceremony and ch (which I HATE).

We're doing ours before, I don't want to miss the cocktail hour!

Remember, this is YOUR day. You should be able to plan the day, regardless of who is paying. Even if my parents or in-laws were paying for our wedding, I can not imagine them trying to dictate how the wedding should run. They could certainly have some input, but ultimately, the decision should be yours and your FH's. Good luck!!

FH and I are still trying to decide what we are going to do. My silly reason for not wanting to do them before is because then I feel like I have all these pictures of us when we aren't really married yet. Probably really stupid reason.

I think what would probably help is if you have the photographer speak to your mom. I'm not sure if you've booked anyone yet. If you haven't, take your mom on the appointments with you and the photographer will definitely mention it. They all did with us. I think they prefer it.
