Wedding Day Timing

Wedding Day Timing

I originally wanted 2 hours in between my Ceremony and reception. I made a mistake and now have 3 hours. My soon to be mother-in-law says its a disaster, thats too much time. And a cocktail hour is not in my budget. My mom, fiance and best friend say its ok. Im a little worried, should I be?

No offense to her but I think your FMIL is being a little dramatic...it will be fine, I wouldn't worry about it...there's girls on here that have bigger gaps than that between their ceremonies and their receptions.

It's fine. Your FMIL will get over it. I have about 3 1/2 hours in between the time we'll probably leave the church and when my CH starts. Guests will figure out something to do with themselves for the meantime.

My Church ceremony starts at 2 and my cocktail hour starts at 6:30.

So I pretty much have about 3 hours in between. My church is in Astoria and the RH is in Woodbury. We need some time in between to take pictures.

I'll have about 3 hours after my ceremony ends and before my CH starts. I think it's ok. I would have prefered to only have 2-2½ hours, but my church would only do the ceremony at 3 because of Saturday morning/evening masses, and the RH would only start the CH at 7 due to day weddings.

I'm only having an hour in between my reception and ceremony. 3 hours isn't terrible. I think you can manage with that time. Good Luck.

I'm worried that I don't have enough time! My church ends at 4:30 and my CH starts at 7. You need time for travel and pictures in between. I think you'll be fine. Tell your FMIL it's not that serious... a disaster.. come on!

Re: Wedding Day Timing

i have only 1 1/2 between church and CH
church is a cross a street from RH
we also rented a museum for guest to hang out while we take pics
museum is 2 blocks away

i really did not want guest to be 'stuck' with nothing to do

Ummmm....no offense but I think your FMIL is being a little dramatic. Please do not stress on this!!! I'm actually a tab bit stressed I WON'T have enough time between church & reception. Sounds like it's perfect to me!

Re: Wedding Day Timing

I just went to a wedding that had 4 hours in between the end of the ceremony and the start of the cocktail hour...those 4 hours went by so quickly, I was rushing to get ready for the cocktail hour! I think it's absolutely fine to have some time in between...I don't and sometimes wish I did!!!
