Wedding deal-breaker arguments ...

Original post by AwaitingAugust

So what are some questions / things that are deal-breakers for you as far as your relationships.

For me, I would not stay with FH if
-- he cheated on me
-- he didn't want children (or didn't want them in the same time-frame as i want them)
-- he didn't love animals

how about you guys?

- cheating
- not wanting children......DEF not going to work for me!
- physically or verbally abusive (well, I would kick his azz right back to his mother if that ever happened)

I agree

i cant really choose a particular action...I think we would be done if either of us stopped 'working' on our relationship and started to give up

I really can't say. Luckily, I haven't been in any of those kinds of situations with FH.

It's really hard to say how I'd react to most of those things without actually being in those shoes.

The only thing that I can say RIGHT NOW would be a deal-breaker is any kind of abuse.

Everything else...while I hope it never comes to that, we'd cross that bridge together if we ever unfortunately end up there.

This is funny....because FH and I aren't eye-to-eye on some politics.

I'm a bleeding heart with many issues, and with others I'm so conservative that some people that know me are like WOW.

He's more on the conservative side of things.

It makes for good conversation. We're very similar with a lot of things, but political stances...we're just different.

ITA. We are the same way, there really aren't any deal-breakers since I wouldn't be marrying FH if he had any of the qualities that I hate (smoking, lots of debt/bad financial habits, no work ethic, etc). Any type of abuse (verbal/emotional) would definitely not be tolerated so I would agree w/ that!

I think cheating would def be something I would get angry about but if he went to counselling and owned up to why he would or did cheat, I would work on strengthening the relationship. Most men cheat in some way or another anyway (IMO) whether its being addicted to internet porn, succumbing to flirty co-workers, or whatnot. It depends on the severity of the situation.

Everything else, I am pretty sure we could work through it.

I read some article on the internet showing that statistics came out indicating that the majority of Americans who lean toward Conservative politics tend to get married or get married at an EARLIER age, than liberals...

Come to think of it, I bet if the women from 'Sex & the City' were real - they would all be bleeding heart liberals. I see conservatives being more wedding/marriage oriented which explains the conservative bent on LIW.

Everything else we can work out.

I am jewish and FH is catholic, for me the deal-breaker was raising our children jewish. If he wasn't ok with that I'd be out the door.
