Wedding Dress Colors

Hello Ladies,

I ordered my gown last week in Ivory and Champagne......what do you all think of those colors for a wedding dress? I am hoping it is not too daring and that I am not straying from the typical white.

Not many people can wear true white. Years ago, most dresses were made of white silk before synthetic fabrics became popular and white silk is off white-not that bright hurt your eyes, day-glo white you can get now. I found it looked too harsh on me-made my teeth and whites of my eyes look sooo yellow. All i kept thinking was 'OYE BUTTER PaCKETS!' LOL So I went with a soft ivory. Had we gotten married in the spring or winter like we'd originally though, I'd have worn champagne or blush.

I think your colors will look amazing.

White is really not that common anymore. I went to 4 weddings in 06, and 2 so far in 07. Not one girl wore pure white. 3 were ivory (including me) and the other 2 wore like a sand color.

my dress is Ivory and Champagne 2.... I love it!

If you love your dress - then don't worry you will be gorgeous! I felt the same way at first but realized how much I loved my dress and now I am sooo happy I went with my choice (plus I am sooo pale that I cant carry white or diamond white on my skin tone I would look dead)

okay...so I am finding some other girls have similar colors....here is a pic of my actual dress....but the colors obviously are in the Ivory/Champagne....I think I will go to the salon and try it on one more time....I seem to see brides wearing only white...that is why I am getting nervous...I always second guess myself anyway

I thought that colors were the 'in' thing. I've seen so many dresses that use color these days. As for myself I'm probably going with claret/wine and white.

I wanted to be a little different.

My dress is ivory with a blush overlay. White looks terrible on me, and the blush overlay really makes the dress!!!

My dress is the Maggie Sottero 'Angel' in Cognac (you can see the color on the site, sort of a mauve/pink/tan color).

So, I don't think your colors are too daring at all, hehe. It sounds beautiful to me!!

And to whomever says it's not a 'bride' color...be sure and remind them, 'I'll be the bride, therefore it'll be a bride color!'

totally fine.... my dress is a cream color.... like a dark ivory, and I think the color is gorgeous!

I also love the new golden gowns..... so pretty!

my gown is champagne... i tried on lot of white and didn't look good to my tan complexion.

i would love to get that dress! i have not started trying on yet though but i would definitely not be surprised if i get something like that too.

no one will know its ivory really and the gold is the same as silver beading and whatevers!

The colors look great together and like others have said not everyone looks good in white white.

For me, I am so pale that when I tried on a white dress i looked like a ghost bride at Halloween. I tried a gold one that i liked and in the end went with an ice blue color that complemented my completion and coloring better.

You should pick what is good for you and not worry too much you will look like a bride no matter what color you wear.

my dress is balck and white..i dont like white and im not a traditional bride..i refused to not have black in my dress

i almost went with an all red dress..but i couldnt find a style that looked right on me
